“It’s for the best. I’m sorry, my son,” his voice sounded like we were in a tunnel, and he was fading away.

I reached out for him, and he took my hand.

“Buonanotte, figlio mio,” he murmured before I couldn’t hold on any longer, and darkness dragged me deep inside, my fight ending.

CHAPTER 42

Fallon

We walkedout of the appointment thirty minutes after having gone inside. Everything had gone well, and the babies were doing great, just like Bianca was. I was so happy. All I wanted to do was celebrate. We planned on ice cream sundaes when we got home because it was what Bianca said she wanted.

And who could argue with that?

Dom stopped abruptly, dragging Bianca to a halt.

“What’s wrong?” I demanded, immediately on high alert.

“The car is gone.”

“What?” I looked to where Vin had parked and saw the spot was empty.

“Dominic,” Bianca choked out.

A crunch of gravel sounded out behind me and I spun just in time to catch a fist to my face.

I swung out but was taken down before I could even pull my gun out.

Dom was taken down a moment later.

“Run! Run!” he shouted, his face bloody and pressed into the pavement, his eyes wild as Bianca darted off through the trees lining the parking lot.

We both struggled to break free, but it was no use.

“Well, that was easier than I thought it was going to be,” Matteo said, his shiny shoes in my line of sight.

I fought as hard as I could to break free, but it was no use. There had to be ten men there. We were fucked.

Please be safe, princess. Fuck. Please be safe, baby.

“I thought I raised you to not be so sloppy,” Matteo continued with a click of his tongue. “You always bring extra men with you when you leave your safe house. I suppose that only matters when you have the extra men, huh, brother?”

We were dragged to our feet and shackled.

“Fuck you, you piece of shit,” Dom snarled, spitting on Matteo.

Matteo hauled off and punched him in the face, sending him sagging to his knees. Matteo pulled out a white cloth and wiped the spit from his face before he backed away without a word and gestured for us to be taken.

I thought maybe we’d be able to fight all the way to the waiting van, but I was wrong. A painful poke met my neck, and I sagged forward, the drugs rushing through me.

“D-don’t hurt her,” Dom rasped. “Please, Matteo. Don’t hurt my girl.Please.I’ll do anything. Fucking anything.”

Those were the last words I heard before the world spun into darkness, my prayers with my princess and our babies.

CHAPTER 43

Bianca

I let outa scream as strong arms wrapped around my waist and dragged me to a stop in the thick trees. I’d made it far, but not far enough.
