I narrowed my eyes as Celeste walked across the grounds toward us.
Protectively, I tightened my hold on Bianca’s waist and moved her slightly behind me. Fallon and Vin arrived just then, and as if sensing my unease, Fallon moved to shield her from Celeste.
“Hello,” Celeste greeted us with a mega-watt smile. She hadn’t been on campus in weeks, I’d heard. It was the first time I was seeing her in a long time.
“What do you want?” I demanded.
She shrugged. “Nothing. Just thought I’d see how you’re doing.”
“I’m doing fine. Now beat it,” I snarled.
She licked her lips. “Mm, I’d love to. I offered before, and you said no. The offer is still open, Dominic.”
“You bitch—” Bianca tried to wrangle her way in front, but Fallon turned and handled her while Vin and I stared down the bitch in front of us.
“Where have you been, Celeste?” I asked.
“Here and there. Mostly there.”
“If I find out you were helping Tate and Hail, you’re dead.”
She giggled. “Oh, Dominic. You’re so sexy when you’re mad. You can calm your kitty cat behind you, however. I’m not interested in you. Word on the street is that you’re on the downward spiral with your father, and he’s out for blood. My father was so interested in getting me married to a king. Our plans have shifted now, though. I’m more interested inhorseback riding now. They’re set to be the kings if you catch my drift.”
I ground my teeth and glared at her, wanting nothing more than to beat her to death with my bare hands.
“The horsemen aren’t going to want you,” Vin said. “You’re wasting your time.”
“Oh, I don’t need all of them. Just one will do. I think Ethan is adorable. There’s just something about the broken ones, isn’t there? And with his ability to create things, he’d be absolutely perfect at my side.”
I shook my head at her. “Ethan Masters doesn’t want you.”
She sighed and ran her fingers down my honor cords. “Oh, Dominic. Sometimes, they don’t have to want me. Sometimes things just work out, you know? Besides, if Ethan says no, I know Enzo will say yes. He just needs to be pressed enough.” She bit her bottom lip and looked up at me. “I’m really good at pressing.” Her hand wandered lower on my body, making its way to my dick.
I grabbed her wrist so hard and twisted it that she cried out, tears springing to her eyes.
“I’m going to take great joy in the day I get to kill you, Celeste. Because you are dead. You’re fucking with the wrong people.” I shoved her so hard she tumbled to her ass. I moved forward to loom over her. “You come near my queen again, and that day will arrive sooner than you want.”
I backed away, took Bianca from Fallon, and steered her toward her seat. Our interaction with Celeste hadn’t gone unnoticed by our classmates, but I didn’t give two fucks about that.
“Are you OK?” I asked Bianca once we were far enough away from Celeste and in our own space.
Her lips were turned down into a deep frown.
“I hate her.”
“Join the club, mia regina. She’s worthless. Don’t let her get to you. It’s what she thrives on.”
“She touched you.” Her words were poisonous, the anger clear on her face.
“And she paid for that mistake. She’s currently struggling to stand. I promise you the next time I encounter her, she won’t get off so easily.”
“Promise?”
“Absolutely.” I kissed her forehead. “Forget about her. She’s a bitch. She doesn’t matter.”
Bianca nibbled along her bottom lip. I reached out and cradled her face in my hands.
“What’s wrong?”
