I stepped into the elevator as Sin joined Stitches.
Stitches’s dark eyes wavered as he stared back at me. Something big had happened in that facility with him and Sirena. I needed to find out what. He wasn’t the same guy who’d left us.
And Sin. . .
Damn him.
He was so stubborn.
We’d get there though.
We had to. We’d vowed one girl for us all, and I knew Sin loved her or he would if he’d just let go.
Sin inclined his head at me as I shifted my focus to him.
The doors closed, leaving me with Church and Cady.
“I hate that shirt,” Cady muttered to Church as he adjusted the collar on his black button down.
“I hate your face,” he said without missing a beat.
I sighed and looked to the ceiling.
The moment the elevator dinged on Asylum’s floor, I stepped out with Church and Cady on my heels. We took the turn around the corner to Asylum’s room and stopped. He was leaning against the wall beside his door.
He pushed off it and offered us a dark smile.
“Took you long enough,” he said, staring us down as we approached.
“Where’s specter?” Church demanded as we reached him.
“Asleep in my bed. She’ll remain there all night. She’s had a bad few days. She needs the rest.”
“Not good enough. I want to see her,” Cady demanded, pushing past me and Church.
I reached out to grab her hand, but she tugged out of my hold and went nearly nose to nose with Asylum. Or she would have if she was as tall as he was.
“Cady cat.” Asylum smirked at her.
“Fuck off, you kook. I want my sister, and I want her now.”
“You’re aware she’s mine,” he said, his voice shifting to something darker and more violent.
“Cadence knows we had an agreement,” Church said. “Sirena’s still ours.”
“She’s in my bed. I’d say she’s mine.” Asylum grinned.
“Don’t do this, man,” I said softly. “Come on. You said—”
“Did I say something?” Asylum shook his head and sighed. “Are you sure it was me? There’s a lot in here.” He tapped his head before he gestured around to the otherwise empty hallway. “And in the shadows. Can never be certain who’s really talking and making promises.”
“Motherfucker,” Church snarled.
I grabbed his arm as he stepped forward. The last thing we needed was a fight in the hallway.
Asylum’s blue eyes sparkled. “OK. Fine. I won’t fuck with you. She’s asleep. She’s mine. For now. As agreed upon. She’ll remain with me until it’s time to return her. Then she’s yours, and I get what I want from you. That was the deal, right?”
Church nodded, his green eyes narrowed.
