And that was good enough for me.

CHAPTER52

Logan

“And your homecoming king is Logan Walker!”

“Congratulations!” Grace said as I turned and fell into her arms. “Go get your crown.”

I grinned down at her and placed a kiss on her lips, already feeling like I’d won the world. Now I had a crown to go with it.

People clapped me on the back and shouted and applauded as I reached the stage, striding across to accept the crown. Mrs. Anderson placed it on my head and congratulated me while Principal Micheals nodded at me.

I stared out at the sea of faces, trying to find the one that matter most to me.

Gracie.

She beamed at me and cupped her hands around her mouth, shouting my name and cheering with everyone else.

I winked at her and mouthedI love you, making her flush beneath the neon lights. Everything had fallen into place, making my heart soar. I’d really thought I’d lost her there for a minute. Now I’d do anything to keep her.

“Speech! Speech! Speech!” Ryan whooped from the crowd, Lana bouncing up and down next to him.

She’d forgiven me too. Luck was on my side. I looked to see Andy with his arm wound around Marissa’s waist. He gave me a nod. I was happy he’d worked it out with her.

“Uh, I’d like to thank you guys for voting for me,” I started as Principal Micheals stepped away. “I don’t know if I’m worthy of the crown after everything I’ve done, but I’m really grateful you guys think I am. To Grace, I love you, baby. You make me better than I ever thought I could be. To the rest of you, let’s party!”

The crowd erupted into cheers as I stepped back, smirking.

Principal Micheals moved forward as the crowd quieted. “Now, for your homecoming queen. Nikole Devos!”

I swallowed and watched as Nikki simpered and started to ascend the stairs in her pink designer dress and ridiculously high heels. Right before our eyes, she tottered on the second stair before falling forward, her dress making a terrible ripping sound. The crowd gasped, and a few started laughing as she righted herself and strode onto the stage, her body trembling and her cheeks red. Mrs. Anderson crowned her. I bit back a laugh when I realized her dress had ripped all the way up her ass. Any other time I may have offered her my suit jacket, but after the shit she’d pulled, I didn’t care if she aired her ass out to our entire graduating class and the underclassmen.

“I just wanted to say that you guys voted correctly. I’ve been queen here for all four years of high school. Because of that, I expect your votes for prom queen as well.”

Principal Micheals cleared his throat and took the mic back from her, shooting her a look of disbelief before she stepped back to stand beside me.

“Nice speech,” I muttered.

“Better than yours.”

I shook my head. “At least my ass isn’t hanging out for all of Oakwood to see.”

She let out a huff and tried to peek behind herself to see the damage her fall had caused as I smiled and stepped forward.

“It’s tradition for the king and queen to share a dance,” Principal Micheals started before I took the mic from him.

“Myqueen goes by the name of Grace Matthews. Come on, Gracie. Time to show these guys how we party,” I called out before tossing the mic back to Principal Micheals and rushing down the stairs to the angry shouts of Nikki behind me calling me an asshole.

I swept Grace into my arms when I reached her and dipped her quickly, causing her to laugh.

“We can dance all night,” I said, grinning down at her.

“How about forever?”

My smile widened. “You’ve got yourself a deal, Matthews.”
