He’s right. I don’t deserve Lettie. I’m lucky to have her, so I need to not think dirty thoughts about her and focus on our goals—getting Lettie dating experience and keeping Jerrod from taking over my parents’ foundation board.
“Did she like the groceries? I added on a few other snack items that I thought she might like.”
I didn’t stick around to find out. After the vibrator incident, I had to get out of there. It was too dangerous to stay. Too tempting to fall back into my old ways and take Lettie with me.
If it had been a month ago and any other woman but Lettie, I would have stripped those leggings off so fast and buried my face between her thighs, then fucked her into the mattress until we were both spent.
“Yeah. That’s great. Thanks.”
Ramsey scrolls on his phone. “Let’s see. You’ve got Jerrod and Corinne’s dinner tomorrow night. Did you want me to select a dress for Colette to wear?”
“No, I’ll do it.”
He lifts his brows. “Okay.”
My reasoning is if I pick it out, then I can select something that won’t be distracting. But then, I think of Lettie’s soul-crushing blue eyes, her pretty pink lips and her radiant smile. Oh, and the faint scent of her pussy that was on her vibrator this morning.
The dress is the least of my problems.
I tuck my hands behind my head, before turning to Ramsey. “Will you add the food delivery as a reoccurring order? Oh, and have Martin’s pick up her laundry tomorrow.”
“Is this part of the arrangement you made?” he asks.
“No, she didn’t ask for it, but I can see she needs help. She’s busy and I want to make her life outside of dancing as easy as possible.”
“Interesting. It sounds like you actually care about her.”
I shrug off his observation. “Of course, she’s my friend.” Who I desperately want to kiss again and can’t stop thinking about when I’m not with her.
Mo jumps onto the lounger and starts to make his way over to my lap. I give him a long stroke down his back as he settles in. The calming sensation I couldn’t find with the cigarette starts to paint itself over my body.
I nod to Ramsey. “I’m thinking of loaning your services to Lettie. You know, to help with anything she needs. You good with that?”
“I’d be offended but I’m certain she’ll be more fun to hang out with than you.”
“I knew you’d be pleased.”
“Oh, and I got the information you needed from Leg-Up. The wiring instructions are with Jason at the bank, ready to send when you give the word.”
“Thank you.”
“Just so we’re clear, you’re offering to anonymously match donations at the fundraiser up to ten million dollars?”
“Yeah.” Mo lifts his chin toward me so I can scratch under it.
“But you’re already donating five million, so you’re going to match your own donation?”
I smile at Ramsey’s befuddled look. “I never said it had to make sense.”
My parents set me up for life, they made it easy for me to enjoy my life, but I know they never intended for me to do nothing with it. As a family we enjoyed our time together at Lake George, sailing and adventuring to new parts of the world, but they also knew hard work. That’s the part I’m less acquainted with. Seeing how hard Lettie works, in her career and donating time to others, makes me think it’s time to reevaluate what I’m doing with my life.
CHAPTER 23
Colette
Colette:Thank you for the groceries and finishing the tutus. I still can’t believe I fell asleep. Oh, and thank you for the massage last night. You’re an amazing fake boyfriend!
I reread the text message I sent Rhys an hour ago.
