“Let’s head out, the men are waiting on your orders for when they arrive at The Academy,” Benedikt reminded.

I grabbed a walkie-talkie and rasped into it. “Burn it all down when you get there, I want video proof.” I turned back to Benedikt. “Let’s move out.”

We left the Villa with all the survivors in tow. I was already thinking about what I was going to do in order to keep them organized. Once they were situated, I grabbed a glass of champagne and brought it to Valentina, who was on the deck with her arms wrapped around herself.

“Here, little killer,” I rasped in her ear.

“I can’t believe you pulled this off,” she said woodenly.

I didn’t mind, I understood that her mind was probably all over the place. “We did this, and soon we will show all in the Brotherhood how powerful we truly are.” I drew her into a gentle kiss, before holding her in my arms.

The men carriedout my orders. We were heading for fuel when I got the video. I took Valentina into the bedroom we had to ourselves, so we could watch the place of nightmares burn down. Our eyes fixated on the fiery inferno on the screen that consumed the walls and windows of the building.

The girls we were taking in would be sold back to their families, and future husbands. The teachers would be sold as well. Not all of them, but the bulk of them. It was a new era for the Bratva.

The camera man’s shaky hands left something to be desired, but as the school burned, Valentina let out a sob.

“It’s ok, wife, I took care of the threat.”

“I know, b-but I loved teaching.” Her voice hiccuped.

“Baby,” I drew her in my arms, disregarding the video. “You can’t possibly think I’m going to let you work.”

“What if I had an idea that would help you keep all the control?” She whispered.

“I love your brain, my little killer. Tell me your plan.” She whispered in my ear exactly what she wanted to do.

I drew back, surprised. “Are you certain? This will put an even larger target on our backs.”

“But think about all you can do. Your network of spies would change, and you can help me train them. Many men in this life wouldn’t even think twice about a female assassin. They think all we are good for is popping out their kids. This could keep the control on the chessboard, not just for the Bratva, but for you, and our future children.” She placed a small hand on her belly.

Heat rushed through my veins. Fuck, I truly hoped she was pregnant with my kid. “Well, who would we start with?”

“I think if we spoke to Sloane and Alexie, they may agree to send their daughter. But let’s give it a few years. I think it could make for a legitimate college or high school.”

“With you as the headmistress?”

She giggled, “you think I would make a good principal or something?”

“It would be in the States. I’m not leaving my territory.”

Valentina wrapped her arms around me. “I’d never ask you to do that. There’s nothing for me here. You are my home.”

I was certain we would talk more about the school for assassins she wanted to grow. I could launder money through it. But right now, I wanted to enjoy my wife. I leaned down and brushed my lips against hers.

My phone pinged, Benedikt interrupting us with a text. “The men found a ton of evidence. Once we all touch down back home, we need to figure out how we will approach the families with our Pakhan.”

I texted my understanding that this was a different time. We needed to play this right. If Viktor negotiated well, we could rule the entire world. But this would also test our alliances. If negotiations broke down, another war would break out.

Fuck, I don’t know if we could withstand another one. All I could do was hold my wife tight. Clutching my arm, Valentina laid her head against my shoulder, her eyes never leaving the video of the burning building.

“Roman?” she whispered, pulling me back into her orbs.

I grunted, because words couldn’t pass my lips on this momentous occasion.

“Thank you for catching me.”

I spun her in my arms and placed a brief kiss on her lips. “You’re welcome, wifey.” Underneath the moonlight, I held my wife, as we stood in the wake of the greatest era for the Bratva. My sweet assassin. I couldn’t wait to see what life had in store for us next.
