Benedikt and I crouched behind a grimy dumpster, our breaths coming in hushed pants, as we located our target through the tinted windows of the ominous black SUV. Our eyes locked onto Rajesh as he emerged from the vehicle, his posture exuding arrogance and power.

Four enormous guards flanked him like menacing sentinels, their cold gazes scanning the area for any potential threats. Rajesh smoothed out his immaculately tailored kurta with a smug grin, before striding towards the looming entrance of the building, his every step oozing with confidence and authority.

His men cleared the inside of the place before escorting him inside. The vehicle peeled out, confirming he was alone. He wasn’t rumored to start selling anything until tomorrow. It was now or never to get the information we needed.

We crept through the shadows alongside the house, taking out the lone guard covering the back door. Benedikt moved silently behind me as we infiltrated the house. With practiced ease, we avoided any creaks on the floor.

The air was heavy with the scent of must and old wood. We found him in the last room. His solitary figure was bathed in the lamplight as he cleaned a weapon in front of him. Benedikt drew his own weapon as we crept inside the room.

Rajesh remained completely still as we advanced towards him, asking with a hint of annoyance, “And who might you be?”

“Your worst nightmare,” Benedikt growled before rushing Rajesh, and knocking him hard against the side of the head.

Rajesh slumped to the floor.

We picked him up and placed him back onto the chair. Benedikt grabbed the rope that was slung on his back, and strapped Rajesh down. I reached into my kit and grabbed the smelling salts to wake his ass back up.

“W-what?” He blinked at us.

I grabbed his chin and Benedikt leaned in to threaten him. “Listen here, motherfucker. I need information, and if you want to keep your family safe, you’ll give it to me.”

We’d done our research. Rajesh had a wife and daughter squirreled away in a mansion in India. They had more security than he did at the moment. But that didn’t make them untouchable. I already had a cousin of mine infiltrating his staff.

“I don’t know anything,” Rajesh said, his eyes shifting to the left.

Fucking liar. I calmly walked behind him and pulled the plastic bag out. Depending on the hunt, I kept certain things on me. And since I didn’t feel like answering questions, or dealing with paperwork, I kept my kill kit basic.

I wrapped it tightly around his face, cutting off his airway. He thrashed around, pulling at his bindings trying to break free. I grunted, forcing his eyes to bulge before yanking the bag off his head.

Coughing and sputtering, Rajesh gasped, staring at me in disbelief.

“Try again,” Benedikt ordered after glancing at me for confirmation.

“W-what do you want to know?” He glanced at Benedikt, like he was in charge.

I almost chuckled.

“Why were you visiting the orphanage, if your daughter is already of age and married?” Benedikt demanded, as he looked over at me with a smirk. “I did my homework.”

When I had watched the Headmaster through CCTV footage, his pristine white collar and perfectly coiffed hair had given off an aura of immaculate cleanliness. Still, something about him triggered my instincts – a subtle shift in his posture, or the way he glanced over his shoulder. Without hesitation, I delved deeper into his background, determined to uncover any hidden dangers lurking behind his seemingly flawless facade.

When Rajesh’s daughter, Meera, married two years ago, she was living with her husband in her father’s mansion. It didn’t make sense for him to be there. The priest that ran it didn’t have any need for guns, and Rajesh’s daughter for certain wasn’t being sent away.

Rajesh was a family man, even though he visited places in the world where his every desire was catered to. He portrayed a strong love for his daughter. So why the fuck was he around my woman? In her school, the only home she knew, breathing her air, and taking up space that should have given her a sense of comfort.

“I didn’t do anything,” he blurted.

I grabbed the bag and he started shaking his head, babbling in fear.

“H-he promised no one would f-find out. I-I’ve got a rep-reputation to u-uphold. I can’t go down for this. My wife will l-leave me.”

“What the fuck are you going on about?” Benedikt interrupted.

Rajesh calmed slightly, his eyes riddled with confusion. “You aren’t talking about the little girl I had?”

Bile tried to climb its way up my throat. I imagined my little killer as a vulnerable young girl, walking down her home hallway, stumbling along this fucking predator. Oh, I wanted to kill him. Slice his worthless fucking throat.

“Tell me everything,” Benedikt commanded.
