Page 93 of Succeeding Love

Kate has been more supportive of my new relationship since meeting Vin last Friday. She showed up at my house bright and early to present me with her gift of workout clothes. She said she specially ordered the baby making kind. The kind that pushed my girls and hinny up and showed more skin than I would normally be comfortable with.

After putting them on, I almost changed out of them about ten times, but Kate made me promise to leave them on until Vin saw them. His eyes when he walked into my room after getting off work were enough to keep me in them. I liked the way he hovered close by as I walked on the treadmill sipping my smoothie, too.

“I need to tell your sister thanks,” Vin mumbled low and huskily.

“What was that?”

“I said, are you hungry? Want to stop somewhere for dinner?”

I tried not to smirk as I shrugged. “I could eat.”

“I could give you something to eat,” he mumbled again.

“Oh yeah,” I laughed. “What would that be?”

His hand tightened on my leg. His eyes flickered to my thighs again. I tightened my thighs around his fingers, making him groan deeply.

“Let’s go back home, and I’ll show you.”

I giggle, feeling ten different kinds of giddy. He’s been referring to my house as our home a lot, and I love it. He’s really only at his house to sleep on the weekdays. Even my kids have become used to him being in our home.

“I like it when you call my house home,” I whispered shyly.

Vin’s heated gaze softened. His hand rubbed my thigh lovingly.

“I enjoy calling your house home, too. It feels like home. More than anywhere else ever has.”

I bit down on my lip as I stared up at him, thinking about the weight of what he just said. We haven’t been dating a full two months yet, and I already feel more attached to him than I ever have with any other person. Apart from my kids, of course. Even Kate says she’s never seen me this happy.

“Move in, why don’t you?” I teased shyly.

My heart went crazy at the tender look on his face.

“Is that an invitation?”

With an unsure shrug, I ducked down lower in my seat. “Would that be crazy?”

“Maybe,” he stopped at a stoplight and brushed the hair from my shoulder, “but I’m already crazy about you.”

Get It Together

Nick

“You look good, daddy,” Jessie smiled sweetly at me as I stepped into the living room.

“Thank you, honey.” I adjusted my tie in the mirror, then bent over the couch to kiss the top of her head.

Preston barely glanced up at me from his phone. He was lying across the couch, the same scowl on his face that he had when he got here. That’s the only expression I see on him now.

Pursing my lips, I adjust my cufflinks while willing my son to look at me. When he didn’t, I sighed, then asked, “Do you have dinner sorted out, Preston? Did you order pizza?”

“Yep.” he still didn’t look away from his phone.

“How did you pay for it?” I didn’t get a notification about my card being used and it was still on the counter exactly where I’d left it.

“Mom’s card.”

I rubbed my eyes, holding in a groan, before sighing and putting the card back in my wallet. “Why didn’t you use my card?”
