Inhaling, I let loose a deep, contented sigh. Lucroy’s chest rose beneath mine. He’d finally taken a breath, indicating he was awake. The fingers dancing through my hair, lightly skimming my scalp, also indicated my lover was awake.

“Did you sleep well?” Lucroy’s voice didn’t exactly sound raspy, but it was husky.

“Very well,” I easily answered, snuggling in closer. I didn’t think I’d slept that well in months, perhaps years.

“You?”

“Also well. The space you carved out for me is perfect. It reminds me of how I first found shelter when I was newly turned. Things were far different in those days.” Lucroy’s voice rumbled. It didn’t sound like they were bad memories.

“The trees wanted to help. They were really pleased I asked them to create a safe haven for you. I should have thought of it earlier.” I really should have. I’d felt a slight reprimand from my trees about it too. It was like they’d just been sitting there, waiting for the invitation to help.

“I am pleased they approve.”

I chuckled. “They more than approve, Lucroy. Were you worried they wouldn’t?” I leaned up on my elbows so I could look down at Lucroy’s handsome face. His features were sharp. Some might say too sharp. To me, he was perfection.

“Perhaps a little.” Lucroy ran his hand down my spine, settling on my lower back. The position pushed my groin into his leg. I was hard, but Lucroy still felt soft. Raising his leg, Lucroy pushed his body into mine. “I would love to reciprocate, beloved, but I am a little starved for such activities.”

I sat up a little higher, suddenly alarmed. “You should have fed this morning before we fell asleep. I didn’t even think about that.” From what I understood, Lucroy had barely taken the time to choke down a little blood last night before he’d tried coming to see me. He’d been waylaid by the vampire council and all that followed. I hadn’t seen him take even a sip of blood while he’d been with me, and I didn’t have anything stored for him here.

Twisting my head, I offered, “Take what you need.”

A deep, rumbling growl of pure pleasure rolled through Lucroy’s chest. “You have no idea what you do to me, Peaches. How utterly perfect you are.”

I thought it was simply the words of a starving vampire but didn’t argue. Maybe I was perfect, at least for Lucroy. I knew he was perfect for me. Some might not see it that way, but I didn’t care what others thought.

“How long has it been since you’ve eaten?” Lucroy asked, petting my neck, running the pad of his thumb repeatedly over my skin.

“Yesterday . . . sometime . . .” I could barely think. Lucroy’s touch did things to me I’d never experienced before. It made my mind fuzzy and memory difficult.

“That’s not acceptable. Your health and nourishment are as important as mine. Doubly so if you intend to feed me.” Lucroy nipped at my neck, and I groaned, long and deep.

“Fuck, that feels so good.” I’d never believed that a vampire’s bite could be pleasurable. I hadn’t judged those who claimed to enjoy it, but I’d never had any desire to experience it myself. I couldn’t believe what I’d been missing out on all these years. Then again, I doubted it would have felt half as good if it weren’t Lucroy teasing my skin.

“I’m glad, beloved. You have no idea how happy that makes me.”

Lucroy bit down, his fangs piercing my skin. They slid in with only a bite of pain which was quickly washed away by pure pleasure. That pleasure pulsed in time with Lucroy’s sucking, rhythmically dancing along with each pull of blood. I undulated against him, pushing my hardened cock into his thigh. My leg pulled up, shifting my position just enough to feel the first stirrings of Lucroy’s dick. I could tell exactly where Lucroy’s body felt my blood was needed.

Pulling away, Lucroy rumbled, low growls radiating through him as he licked my neck, sealing the wound and aiding healing. “So perfect. Deliciously so.” Lucroy licked his lips. Grasping my wrist, he pulled my hand to his stiffening cock. “The things you do to me, beloved. I can hardly believe how ready my body is to please you.”

I inhaled, breath coming in sharp, quick pants. Below me, I felt the slow, steady beat of Lucroy’s heart. Its tempo had picked up ever so slightly but was still a fraction of my fluttering heart.

“Please, Lucroy.” I had no idea what I was asking for but trusted he did.

“It is time to complete our bond, Peaches. Do you truly consent to be my beloved, to be my one and only, and I yours? Once complete, I will no longer be able to draw sustenance from any other source. I will only be able to feed from you. Are you certain you wish this?”

Only my desire to bond with my orchard compared to how desperately I wanted to be Lucroy’s one and only—his beloved. “I can’t think of anything I desire more,” I truthfully answered.

Pressing his index finger into one of his fangs, a bead of blood formed, followed by the simple instruction, “Drink.”

I hesitated. Pixies were vegetarians. We didn’t eat meat. We didn’t consume anything that had once depended on blood for survival. “I . . .” I stared at that drop of crimson, now running down Lucroy’s finger in a languid trail.

“I’m sorry, Peaches. This is the only way. I know it is not in your nature. If you do not wish to—”

I didn’t let Lucroy finish. I swooped down, mouth open as I clamped on to that finger. Lucroy’s hissed moan of delight spurred me on and gave me courage. I lapped at the blood leaking from his finger. It was a small amount, just enough to fill my mouth with the taste of copper. It wasn’tbad, per se. I didn’t think I’d ever want to fill a glass with it and take a big swig, but this was tolerable.

I licked and sucked, drawing more blood into my body. The tingling sensation that started in my mouth spread through the rest of my body. I squirmed, unsure if I liked the sensation or not. It felt like a thousand ants skittering just below my skin. The low-level irritation turned into radiating warmth. It started in my core and worked its way out, making my skin fever-bright.

“Enough, beloved.” Lucroy pulled his hand away, that singular digit slick with my saliva.
