“Yeah?”
“I love you.”
She sighed as her body almost turned into a pile of goo right there in the red booth at Mary Anne’s. “I love you, too. Get ready. We have a hat trick to celebrate.”
“I can’t wait.”
Alice set down her phone as her dad waved at her from the door. She waved back, and he made his way over.
“Hi, sweetheart,” he said, slipping into the booth across from her. “This is such a nice surprise.”
The waitress stopped by. “Do you need menus?”
“Nope, I think we just need two hot fudge sundaes?” she said, looking over to Alice to make sure.
“Yep.” Alice grinned at him.
“Alright, I’ll bring those right out,” she said before disappearing into the kitchen.
“So, how do you like working with Sasha?”
“Sasha’s great,” she answered honestly.
“She is. She’s really helped the organization a lot with her ideas. I bet you were busy tonight, posting game updates.”
“I really was. It was such a good game.”
He just nodded. “It was. The guys had a good night.”
“One guy in particular,” she said, trying to keep her smile from going all big and goofy.
“Taylor did have a good night,” he said, eyeing her carefully.
“So, I have to tell you something,” she said as the waitress made her way over to them and set the sundaes down.
Part of her wanted to chicken out and just eat the delicious ice cream. But she was ready to be with Taylor out in the open anyway she could.
“I’m kind of dating him,” she said before stuffing her mouth with a big bite of ice cream.
Her dad just tilted his head. “Are you really?”
She nodded.
“How long have you been seeing him?”
“A couple months.”
“Really? Taylor?”
She just nodded again.
He hadn’t said much, but his smile relaxed her.
“He treats you well?”
She sighed and couldn’t help the goofy grin she’d been trying to hold off. “He does.”
“Good. Let me know if that changes, but I’m happy for you. If you have to date one of my players, he’s the one I would have hoped for. He’s kind with a good head on his shoulders,” he said with a small nod.
