"Do you like to be the little spoon?" she said, still teasing him.

"No," he growled in her ear. "I'm the big spoon. Always the big spoon," he said, holding her tightly to his chest. She wanted to joke, but he felt so good there was no joking about this.

Slowly they both drifted off to sleep, and she had never gone to sleep feeling quite this happy and safe, and loved.

That night as Evie slept in his arms, she had a dream. She was at the hotel ready to walk down the aisle for her sister's wedding, holding her flowers, feeling nervous. As she turned the corner she was surprised because Allen wasn't up front standing under the arch. It was Cash. It was Cash in a tux with tears in his eyes smiling at her. She looked down and it wasn't a bridesmaid dress, but a beautiful wedding gown that hugged all her curves and flared beneath her hips and she carried beautiful red roses.

She was pulled out of her dream by her alarm. She hit snooze and Cash pulled her back into his arms.

"No," he groaned. "Not yet." He nuzzled into her and kissed her neck and shoulders.

She lay there in his arms trying to find some grounding in this reality and not the dream she had just been in. The one where she was beyond happy to marry the man snuggling behind her. It shouldn't surprise her because weddings were clearly on her mind. But for a man she had blocked earlier this week, it should scare her more than it did. Because that's the thing, it didn't scare her at all. It felt so incredibly right.

Cash's breathing had slowed again and his grip in her loosened ever so slightly. He had fallen back asleep. Cash was a snooze guy, just a knew little piece of him she got to tuck away. She was not a snooze person, but even if she was, she didn't think she could get back to sleep after that dream. Even still, she would lay in his embrace, soaking up his nearness because she had a feeling today was going to be a shit show. She hoped not for her sister's sake, but her mother had just been on a tear recently. After this wedding, Evie was drawing some hard lines and boundaries with her. She just needed to get through the day.

Her phone alarm went off again and she turned it off before it woke Cash back up. She managed to slip out of his arms and head into the shower. She had been in there for a few minutes when she heard the bathroom door open.

"Hello?"

Cash's head peeked around the curtain and his eyes shamelessly perused her wet, soapy body.

"You need any company?" he asked as he wagged his eyebrows.

"If you get in this shower, we both know what is going to happen."

"Yeah, we do. My question still stands."

"As much fun as that would be, I do need to get to my sister's room to get my hair done and all that. Then put on the poofy pink monster of a dress."

"Poofy pink monster?" he asked with a little chuckle.

"Have I not shown you the dress? It's awful."

"You have not. I must say I'm looking forward to it."

She just rolled her eyes as she started to rinse her hair.

"How can I help? Do you want to order room service for breakfast?" he asked.

"That would actually be perfect," she said.

"What do you want?"

"Fresh fruit and a ham and cheese omelet. I'm not sure if we’ll get much real food before dinner."

"Got it. I'll call it in."

And to her pleasant surprise, he poked his whole head in the shower and kissed her before he made his way out of the bathroom. After Evie got out of the shower and dried her hair, she slid on her robe and went out to find Cash lounging in the bed in a t-shirt and his boxers. The casual intimacy of this moment warmed her.

She went and joined him on the bed. Her phone buzzed on the nightstand. Cash grabbed it and tossed it to her.

Ellie - I'm getting married today

Evie - Yeah you are. I'll be over in a bit.

"My sister being extra," she said, tossing her phone back on the bed. "But if you can't be extra on your wedding day, then what's the point?"

Cash just smiled at her. There was a knock at the door and Cash went to let in the room service.
