“Okay, thank you.”

Once the police left Conner sat with Sasha. “Sasha,” he turned her face gently to look into her eyes. “Baby, I'm so sorry. What can I do?”

“Can you just get my stuff from my room? I just want to shower and go to bed.”

“Yeah, I'll be right back.”

He didn't want to leave her, but he somehow managed to pull himself away from her long enough to get her things. In the hallway he ran into Cash.

“How's she holding up?” he asked.

“About as good as can be expected. I can't believe I didn't walk her to her room tonight.”

“You can't think like that, man. You'll drive yourself crazy. She's okay and the guy is dealt with,” he said.

“I know...I just can't help but think about it.”

“Just be there for her. That's all that can be done now,” said Cash. “I’m going down to the team. Should I tell Coach you're staying up here with Sasha?”

“Yeah.” Then Cash made his way to his elevator. The police let Conner in to get Sasha's bag and toiletries. They attempted to put up a fight, but Conner wasn't in the mood. They eventually relented.

What a day. He had been upset about the loss, but this put the whole night into perspective. He made his way back into his room cursing Florida. Last time the team was here he ended up in the hospital with Wes, this time here with Sasha.

Fuck Florida.

Sasha

The night in Conner's room, the plane ride home, the next day in the police station were all a total blur. Evie was with Sasha at the police station. It had taken a lot of coaxing to get Conner to go to game review and practice with his team. He wanted to be there with her, but it was playoffs. He needed to be with the team.

There would be a court case and more headaches, but for right now her stalker was in custody. It was a relief, but it still didn't feel real. She was ready to get back to regular life though, whatever regular life looked like after something like this.

“Are you ready to go home?” Evie said.

“Yes,” Sasha said with a sigh as they made their way out to Evie's car.

Once they were in the car, Evie turned to her. “Where's home?” Evie asked with a cautious look.

“What do you mean?” Sasha asked, confused.

“Conner's house or your apartment?”

That thought almost took her breath away. How had she not even thought of that? She had just assumed she would be going back to Conner's. Things had been so good with him. She knew she was falling in love with him. But she was staying there so he could keep her safe and she wasn't in danger anymore. How had his house become like home? It hadn't even been a full three weeks since she was there. She wanted to stay, but she had her own life to get back to. And her and Conner had never discussed what would happen when it was all over. Surely, he didn't mean for her to stay. And she didn't mean to stay…did she?

“Sasha?”

She looked at Evie, still struggling to figure it out. It was time she got back to her own life.

“Sorry,” she said, giving her head a little shake. “My car and stuff are still at Conner's, just take me there so I can pack and head back to my apartment.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah, why wouldn't I be?” she asked, trying to shake the feeling of wrongness she felt inside.

“I don't know, you and Conner just seem to have a good thing going?” Evie said. She cocked her head evaluating Sasha.

“He was just letting me stay there until this was all over.”
