“You could say that,” Nico muttered.

“He was helping Mitchel move. I think he left already… Are you getting the rest of his stuff?” I questioned.

Micah nodded slowly as he replied somewhat cautiously, “Yes, we are.”

I nodded and gasped as I remembered my cookies in the oven. I let Grayson down and ran over to the kitchen to take out the platter.

Thinking I should be friendly, I set aside three cookies on a plate and walked over to the door to see the men now looking down at Grayson weaving through their legs. Elliot was the firstto look back up at me, though I noticed he hadn’t said a word to me yet.

“Any friend of Mr. Amante is a friend of mine… at least, I think we’re friends. Anyway, here you go,” I said, offering them each a cookie. They looked down at the plate in confusion. I furrowed my eyebrows. “They’re cookies. They’re made for eating,” I whispered, unsure if they knew what to do.

Nico and Micah both picked one up. Elliot remained still as the two men took a bite, and Micah’s eyes rolled to the back of his head dramatically.

“Fuck, this is good,” he said, and Elliot turned away. I sighed internally as he didn’t seem to like me.

Micah grabbed the last cookie and turned his head to see Elliot walking away. “I’ll give this to him, sugar… don’t you worry your pretty little head.” He spoke sincerely, and I nodded slowly.

“If you see Mr. Amante… can you tell him I said hi and that I’m sorry for anything I did that made him upset,” I said softly.

Nico finished the cookie as he continued looking at me with confusion. “I genuinely doubt that you could ever do anything to make him upset. Regardless, we’ll tell him you said hi,” he muttered and nudged Micah slightly as they went to find Elliot.

Grayson jumped into my arms, and I cooed at him softly as I closed the door.I just made two and a half friends… I’m sure Elliot will come around soon enough to make it a full three.

Chapter seven

Teegan

“Beverly, you made it!” I heard someone yell over the music as a few girls gathered around us and practically snatched my only friend from me.

So much for “we’ll stick together all night.”

Ireallydidn’t want to come… I had regretted the decision long before I entered, and now look where I am: surrounded by drunk people in the house of a boy who tries to mock me without my friend… orridewith me. So, all in all, it was a pretty good start to this dreaded night.

I pushed past everyone as I tried to enter the kitchen to find something to drink. Finding a bottle of water that wasn’t open, I looked around for Beverly once again. Maybe if I just stuck beside her for a few minutes, then she’d realize she came with me and not those other girls…Be nice, Teegan.

Having no luck, I went to find a seat somewhere slightly quieter when I felt a hand on my waist. I looked up at the culprit and felt a bit nervous once I realized it was Alec. We were also in a slightly secluded area, thanks to my introverted scavengerhunt for a quiet place, but from the look in his eyes, he didn’t seem to mind that as much as I did.

“Teegan... glad you could make it,” he slurred, and I realized by his eyes and scent in general that he was most likely both high and drunk. As a future physician, you’d think he’d be the first to know the two shouldn’t mix.

“Hi, Alec,” I muttered, removing his hand from my waist, and he chuckled as he leaned in closer, ignoring my attempt to put some distance between us.

“You look adorable, baby girl...” he complimented.

I laughed uncomfortably as my back hit the wall. “Thanks... Um, I’m gonna go look for Beverly if that’s okay.”

I turned to leave, and my heart sank as he placed his hands on my hips.

“What’s the rush, baby… you don’t want to have any fun? Been feeling ignored by you.”

I had half a mind to scream for help, but I was feeling extremely anxious. His thumbs began to make circles on the waistline of my jeans, and I placed my hands on his wrists to stop him.

“Alec... no. Please, you’re drunk.”

He laughed humorlessly. “And?” he questioned, and I flinched as he leaned into my ear. “I’m just being friendly… not my fault you look so fucking good,” he muttered, and I felt lightheaded as I attempted to push him away again, but it wasn’t effective. He was always a bit touchy and pushy, but I never thought it would get too far.

I felt tears burning in my eyes slightly; however, I was relieved when I heard a familiar voice.

“I believe if she said no… she means no. No matter how ‘fucking good’ she may look,” Micah voiced.
