I crack up, as does Lexi. The assistant collects it and walks back towards her boss.
“Sit your ass at the edge of the windowsill. I want one hand beside you gripping the edge…arch that back.Yes. Now, let your hair cascade down your back, lift that chin, and spread those legs slightly. Just enough to give me a tiny show. Exactly, Madison. Close your eyes and stay like that,” he directs, snapping pictures.
A knock sounds at the door, making my eyes pop open.
“Madison. Are you in there?” Diego’s voice carries over the music, a tinge of irritation in it.
I brush the curtain back. The assistant hands me mybathrobe and I don it promptly. When I reach the door, I crack it open a hair.
“Hi.”
Diego cranes his neck to see over me, but I shut the door even further.
“Was someone telling you to spread your gorgeous legs?” There is humor in his voice, not jealousy. Maybe a hint of playful curiosity.
Which is a relief.
“Uhhh… yeah. But it’s not what you think. It’s the surprise I was talking about. You trust me, right?” I bite my lower lip as my false eyelashes flutter while looking up at him.
His hand reaches out through the crack in the door to cup my face. “I do. You look beautiful. How’s the head?” he asks as his thumb rubs a path over my cheek.
“Muchbetter. The pain relievers and quad espresso really helped.” I smile, leaning into his touch.
“I didn’t mean to interrupt, I just so happened to be heading to my office when I heard someone tell you to spread your legs…” He smirks.
“I would have bust the door down if roles were reversed. I’m impressed with your self-control,” I laugh.
“There wasn’t much. Trust me, I wanted to. But marriages are about trust. After you confessed your love for me last night, I realized I’ve got nothing to worry about.” He shoots me a wink, sending butterflies straight to my core.
Raising up on my tip toes, my lips claim his. It takes everything in me to break off this kiss.Fuck. I’m so turned on right now…
“Remember, we are all meeting for lunch poolside today,” I remind him.
“I’ll be there, baby.” He knocks twice on the molding of the door before walking down the hallway towards his office.
“Wait!” I shout down the hallway. He spins on his heel. “Doyou need your office or can you do your work from somewhere else?”
A dark eyebrow raises in question. “I don’tneedit. Why?”
“I need to borrow it.”
“What’s mine is yours,Mariposita. Have at it.” He shakes his head, amused. Those perfect straight teeth bite down on his lip as he strides past me, whistling as he goes.
The door closes with aclick. I spin around and lean against it, looking up at Phil. “I want to wear that…” I point to the black bowtie lingerie Rebbeca had laid out earlier. “On his desk.”
“Girl, you can have my job. I am no longer worthy…” he jokes, retrieving the set and tossing it at me. “Get dressed.”
I stepout onto the bathroom mat, wrapping a towel around my waist. A chuckle leaves my lips at the thought of my chaotic, beautiful wife waking up this morning. How I wished we could have had a few more minutes for me to ravish her in the shower. That would have gotten rid of that headache of hers…
After drying off in the bedroom, I walk over to my closet and dress in a pair of board shorts and a white short-sleeved henley. Being back here has me dressing the way I like. There is nothing worse than having to dress in business attire—scratch that—winter clothes are the fucking worst. You’re either overheating or freezing cold.
I make my way down to the kitchen in desperate need of a coffee. Liam and Killian are deep in discussion at the kitchen island. Lainey is nowhere to be seen.
Looks like she and Liam have not resolved their issues.
“Morning,” I grumble, passing them en route to the espresso machine.
“Good Morning, Diego,” Killian swivels on his bar stool to greet me.
