He grabs my hand and places it gently against his face. “I know that this whole situation is fucked up. But don’t think for one second that I wasn’t coming back for you. I made the mistake of losing you once. I won’t make that same mistake again. I will tell Killian about us. You just have to admit out loud that you want to be done with him. We can figure this out, baby. It doesn’t have to be this way,” he says gently. His face is only inches from mine.
“I’m sorry I slapped you.” I lower my head, feeling ashamed.
“Don’t be. I deserved it. I’m sorry for pushing you. I know you don’t want to cheat. I don’t want to either. I just can’t control myself around you.You make me crazy.” He blows out a breath and runs a hand through his hair. “How about that cigarette?” he offers, shifting the mood.
I look up and smile at him, all my anger residing. He’s not wrong. In the heat of the moment,I wanted him too. I wasn’t going to stop him. My body was vibrating with the need to feel him inside me again. To crush my lips against his and let him fuck me on his desk. To let myself lose control for once and to not overthink everything. To just be in the moment with him.
Weneed to tell Killian.
I can’t do this to him. It’s not fair.

The restof the night was insanely fun. My girls and I danced our asses off. They even brought out a cake with an enormous sparkler. It’s safe to say I am thoroughly wasted and happy.
Liam kept his distance from me after our cigarette. He spent the remainder of the night brooding from the balcony. He may have been physically distancing himself, but his eyes were on me all night. I could feel his frustration and desire without looking at him.Well, that makes two of us, buddy.
We are back in the car now, heading back out of town. Colin smiles at me from the driver’s seat. “Carly is quite the catch.”
“She isss,” I hiccup.Oh great. It’s going to be alongdrive home.
I must have closed my eyes. Because when I wake up, I am most definitelynotin the bed that Killian and I share. I look around trying to see where I am.Where the fuck am I?My heart starts pounding uneasily. Then I hear Liam’s hearty laugh next to me. He’s laying down on top of the comforter. Hands behind his head and legs crossed.
“You were about to be sick in the car. We pulled over twice to let you puke, but you never did. The smartest thing was to come back to my place after you fell asleep on my shoulder.”
I cover my face with my hands.
Tequila.
“I’m sorry,” I whine, my voice laced with shame. How embarrassing…
“Don’t be. You’re cute as hell when you’re drunk. And needy too. ‘Liam, take me homeee,’ he mimics my voice, laughing to himself again.
I look down now that my eyes are adjusted and see that I am in an oversized t-shirt with a raven on it. I throw the comforter off—apparently, I am in boxer shorts too.
“Liam!” I shout and throw the pillow at him.
He catches it and places it back down. “Ya threw up the second you got to the bathroom. A bit got on your dress. I was just trying to help.” He holds his hands up in surrender. “I got you cleaned up. You brushed your teeth, had some water, and made it to the bed before gracefully curling into a ball and falling asleep.” His lips twitch, holding back another laugh. “It's not like I haven’t seenall of youbefore.”
“What a hot mess I am,” I bow my head.
Liam leans over and lifts my chin so that I look at him.
“Hotindeed.” He winks. “Are you hungry?”
My stomach decides to growl in perfect timing with his question. He pats it and gets up off the bed.
“Let’s feed you then.”
His kitchen is incredible. The walls are brick with matte black cabinets and black quartz countertops. Exposed wood beams run the length of the house. A large island with tan leather stools sits in the center. Warm, Edison-style pendant lights hang from the ceiling. Dark hardwoods run from the kitchen to the rest of the house, and forest green paints the walls. It’s just like Liam—dark yet inviting.I love it.
I sit down on the stool at the edge of the island. “Where are Colin and Kieran?”
He is standing by the stove with his back turned to me. “They went back to the city. I’ll drive us home tomorrow. We can take my car.”
I spot my purse on the counter and take my phone out to check for missed calls or messages. Liam is rummaging around between the refrigerator and stove, whipping something up. Three texts and one missed call from Killian.Shit.
