She hops out of bed and bolts over to my door. “Well. This was…fun. Thanks for keeping me company. I’m sure I’ll feel much better sleeping on my own tonight.
“Madison,” I say calmly. She’s gonna run.
“I really would like to hit the gym before my classes start—so—I’ll see you later.”
I sigh and get up, knowing my shower is going to be freezing cold this morning.
After wakingup sprawled across Liam, I decided I needed to set somemajorboundaries with him.It doesn’t help that I am still so drawn to him.If Killian and I are going to make it through these next few months, I need to stop letting Liam affect me.
Last night—as fun as it was—can’t happen again.
I close the door to Liam’s room with my heart beating out of my chest. I need to talk to Lexi about this all. Which means I’ll have to ask Liam if she can come over later. We can have a girls’ night with some wine in the hot tub. I’m sure she’d love to see Conor too. They really hit it off at the gala. He’s been texting and calling her non-stop.
My mind is still racing with thoughts of Liam, even after I brush my teeth and change into a neon pink workout outfit. I grab my headphones off the dresser and make my way downstairs.
Killian’s gym has everything I need for my routine—including a mini fridge with water bottles and smoothies. I settle on some cardio first, praying it’ll help me blow off some steam. Stepping on the elliptical, I turn on HGTV and shoot Lexi a text:
Maddy
I need a girls’ night…if Conor can come get you, will you sleep here tonight? Thinking wine and hot tub. ??
Lexi
Hell yes. I’m in.
Maddy
Ok. Let me just run it by Liam. I’ll text you the details when I get them.
Lexi
How’d that go last night? You stopped messaging me.
Maddy
He saw our texts.
Lexi
Oh shit. Okay. Tell me everything later.
I place my phone back on the stand and start to focus on my workout.
After twenty minutes, I am dripping sweat and fully engulfed in a show, when someone crosses my peripheral. I don’t need to look over to confirm who it is. His lavender and woodsy scent invades my space before he does.
Liam.
I take a sip of my water as he gets on the treadmill next to me.
“Hey there, love,” I hear over my music. I turn to look at him, giving him a tight smile. I point to my headphones. Being the stubborn man he is, he pulls one headphone out of my ear by the cord. “Hi, Madison,” he says all chipper.
“Hi, Liam,” I mirror him and raise an eyebrow at him.I know why he’s here.
He starts running. His tattoos are on full display in a black tank top and compression shorts.Mmm. He is so handsome.
“Hey listen, can Lexi come over tonight for a girls’ night? I was thinking maybe Conor could get her—considering they get along so well.”
“Anything you want, princess.” His eyes are glued to my breasts. Lust coils in my core. Why is this my life right now?
