“I thought he was coming in.”

“It is alright, you have my company.”

She gasped and turned in the direction of the deep, silky voice.

“Uh hello.” She peered into the shadow of the vehicle, trying to see her companion’s face.

He leaned forward.

“I am Tariq Amari.”

Clara accepted his outstretched hand.

“Clara McKellar.” She stared at the stranger, reminding herself to keep her mouth closed. Dark brown eyes bore into hers. She couldn’t stop her gaze from dropping to his sensuously curved lips. Low cut facial hair gave him a rugged look. An image of him throwing her over his shoulder and taking her to his bed played through her mind. Had she ever seen a more good-looking man?

“Are you alright, Ms. McKellar?”

“Huh?” Her eyes found his once again.

Swallowing hard she squeaked,

“I’m fine, thank you for asking.” Pulling her hand from his, she sat back. She mulled his name over in her head. Amari. That was Princess Salma’s surname. Oh my God. Her eyes widened. She was in the back of a limo with the crowned Prince.

“You are Princess Salma’s brother.”

“That I am, Ms. McKellar.”

“I apologize, your Highness. I didn’t realize it was you.” She should have herself a mental kick for not researching the Princess’s brother more. He was the ruler of the country she would be living in, after all.

“It is fine.” Tariq studied Clara intently. She was not at all what he expected. First of all, she was stunning. Her exotic features had captured his attention as he watched her walk toward the vehicle. He scowled, he had come to interrogate his sister’s new assistant, not ogle her. And she had much to look at. She was small in stature but had curves to make his mouth water. One look at her and he had forgotten that he hadn’t wanted her in his home. Now, he wanted to make the beautiful Clara his. He cleared his throat.

“Since you will be staying in my home, I feel we should do away with formalities. Call me Tariq.”

Clara nodded and smiled.

“Thank you and you must call me Clara.”

“Clara.”

Her name rolling off his lips caused her to inhale deeply. Oh no. After her heartbreak, she was convinced that she wouldn’t feel anything for another man in a while. But Tariq invoked feelings in her that caused her worry. I can’t let my guard down and get hurt again. No matter how alluring the Prince was, she had to stay away from him.
