You better come back now. People are wondering where you are.
My breath hitches as I realise what he’s saying. He wants me to go back into the room while the egg is vibrating like this. I can barely stand upright.
I pull myself together long enough to reply to him.
CHLOE
Please, it’s too strong. I can’t walk, let alone come back in the room and have dinner with my family.
MARCUS
You want me to lower the setting?
CHLOE
Yes, please.
MARCUS
If I do that, what do I get?
CHLOE
Anything. Whatever you want, you can have it.
MARCUS
That’s a dangerous thing to promise a man like me, but I’ll accept.
Before I’ve finished reading his text, the egg drops down to a much more manageable level. The vibration is still intense, but that’s because my body is incredibly sensitive already.
It’s a small miracle that I didn’t come. The egg gets me all hot and bothered, but it isn’t enough to push me over that edge.
Once I’ve caught my breath, I send Marcus a quick text before quickly making my way back to the table.
CHLOE
Thank you. I will make it up to you. I’ll be a good girl, just for you
I get to the table just in time to see Marcus reading my message, and the way his blue eyes darken makes my core tighten. He looks up at me and the fire I see shining back is enough to make me shiver. I really wish dinner was over so that we can go back home.
“Is everything okay, Chloe?”
I’m aware of people talking around me, but my attention is solely on Marcus and the way he’s looking at me like he wants to devour me. It’s not until my mother places her hand on my arm that the fog lifts.
I blink a couple of times, trying to clear the sex-filled haze that’s descended over my brain, as I look over at mymother.
“Jacob asked you a question,” she says, looking very annoyed that she’s having to talk to me. She even points over at my brother, so I can follow along.
I look across the table, only to find that everyone is staring at me. Miles and Marcus look amused, Jacob seems concerned, while everyone else appears to be annoyed at me.
I fix my gaze on my brother, slightly shocked to see he’s participating in the discussion at all.
“Sorry, Jake. What did you say? I missed it.”
“I just asked if you’re okay?” he replies, his gaze flicking between myself, Marcus, and Scott.
“I’m fine, honestly. Just women’s problems that I won’t go into,” I say, giving him a small smile to try and reassure him.
