Since I’m only riding from Wasilla over to Palmer, I don’t need to wear my heavy boots. I can get away with wearing heels and some lighter leathers. I change into a pair of skintight, butter-soft leather pants and low-heeled boots with a cuff. I topit all off with a black leather and lace corset that buckles in the front and pushes my breasts up. Before I exit the bathroom, I fluff out my hair, making my hair look wavy and thick.

“Now that is a killer look to catch his eye.” Candace laughs as she takes in my appearance.

“I hope so.”

“Here is the address. Now you go get him. Don’t come back until you have a ring on your finger, girl, because I know he has one for you.” She gives me another hug.

I like his mom.

“I will.”

Ahalf hour later, I’m just outside Palmer, on the north side, in a small neighborhood where several of the homes all look the same. Kids are playing in the yards, the smell of barbecue wafts through the air, and the evening is winding down. Fourth of July was only a couple of days ago, and as I round the last corner, I see several cars and his motorcycle parked in front of a house similar to the others. A trampoline on the side of the yard bounces with several kids, while more run around a swing set.

I can’t wait to have children with Dylan. One thing I’ve thought about a lot lately is what I want from my future. I want to finish my degree and start a practice, while Dylan continues working with the troopers if he wants to. I want us to have kids—at least three, maybe four—and I want to raise them in his house in Ptarmigan Falls.

I pull to a stop and slide off my bike. I notice people watching me. But I only have eyes for the blond man whose gaze stays locked on me until I remove my helmet and unzip my jacket.

Dylan

It’s been so long since I’ve seen her. I’ve dreamed of her every night and wished I hadn’t walked away. I’ve made plans to go back to Ptarmigan Falls to find Minuet and make things right. I was so wrong to leave her. My mom has been hounding me to put an end to my suffering. She said Minuet is probably suffering too.

I got home last night from Sitka, and my buddy, Griffin, and his wife invited me over for a barbecue. I knew it was a setup as soon as I got there. My mom kept saying it was all day. The woman is nice. She’s a single mother who was married to another trooper, but she’s not my Minuet.

I hear the motorcycle as it comes into the neighborhood, and something deep inside me hopes it’s her.

When it comes to a stop in front of Griffin’s house, I watch as the slight body steps off the bike. The tight leather pants hug her ass. She pulls the helmet from her head and the leather wrap from her hair, shaking it out. She unzips the leather jacket with her cut on it, and her breasts are pushed up high, the swells barely contained in the bustier. She bends at the waist to fluff her hair more, putting that ass in the air, and I start to move.

“Dylan, do you know her?” Griffin asks.

“That one’s mine,” I say as I walk toward her, not stopping until I have her pressed to my chest.

“Hello, handsome,” she says in her soft voice, the French accent strong. I know she’s emotional.

“I. Love. You.” I say each word as I take her in my arms and lift her up by her ass. I kiss her deeply and fully, letting every man that saw her know she’s mine. Letting her know she’s mine. Laying my claim on her.

When I pull away, her lids open, and her green eyes are dilated. “I love you too. But we need to talk first,” she says.

“Care to introduce us?” Griffin interrupts us, and I turn with a growl.

Minuet slips from my grip, but I keep an arm around her.

“I’m Minuet Gagnon.” She reaches a hand out to Griffin. He shakes it as he introduces his wife.

We stick around for a bit longer, and then I take her to a hotel in Wasilla. She follows me. I love seeing her riding next to me, but I want to feel her wrapped around my body.

As soon as the door closes behind me, I have her in my arms again and pressed into the wall. I kiss her deeply, and she wraps her legs around my hips. Her hands go into my hair.

“I need inside you, and then we can talk,” I tell her. “You have five minutes to strip, or I cut you out of those clothes.” I reach to my back and pull out my knife. I love that both she and I love our knives.

I set her down, and she starts stripping. I can’t take my eyes off her. She has a couple new scars from her fight with Wilder that I can’t wait to kiss.

I yank my Henley over my head while I kick off my boots. Then I unbuckle my belt and yank it from my loops before I set it on the table. Next to go are my jeans and boxers both.

She is completely naked and starts crawling across the bed, her ass in the air again. I’m on her in an instant. I flip her over and her legs spread wide. My eyes zone in on her scar, and my mouth drops to the apex of her thigh and body where the bullet entered her body as she struggled with Wilder. I could have losther. I kiss the scar reverently, thinking of how close it truly was, according to the doctor.

Minuet’s hands go to my hair and lift my head up.

“I’m here. I’m not leaving you, and you’re not leaving me again, because I’ll come find you again,” she says, her eyes full of fire.
