As we navigate the winding streets, I can feel the weight of our decision settling in. There’s no turning back now. We’re in this together, and whatever happens, I’ll fight for us. I’ve made my choice, and there’s no place I’d rather be than by her side.

Eventually, we make our way to a small diner on the outskirts of town, a place that Sergei suggested as a meeting point. I park the car, my senses on high alert as I scan the area. The diner is quiet, the neon lights flickering overhead casting an eerie glow.

“This is it,” I say, turning to Alyssa. “Stay close to me, and don’t let your guard down.”

She nods, her expression resolute as we step out of the car. The cool night air hits us, a stark reminder of the danger still lurking in the shadows. Together, we walk toward the entrance, our hands clasped tightly as we prepare to face whatever lies ahead.

Inside, the diner is empty except for a few late-night patrons scattered at the counter. The waitress gives us a cursory glance before returning to her duties, unaware of the tension brewing beneath the surface. I lead Alyssa to a booth in the back, my instincts still on high alert.

We sit down, and I lean in closer, my voice low. “We need to be careful. If Lev has eyes on us, we won’t have much time.”

Alyssa looks around, her eyes wide with apprehension. “Do you think he knows where we are?”

“I don’t know,” I admit, feeling the knot of anxiety tighten in my stomach. “But we can’t take any chances.”

Just then, the door swings open, and Sergei walks in, scanning the room before his gaze locks onto us. He approaches, his expression serious. “Viktor, Alyssa. Good to see you both.”

“Is it safe?” I ask, my voice laced with urgency.

“For now,” he replies, sliding into the booth across from us. “But we need to talk quickly. Lev is out for blood, and he won’t stop until he gets what he wants.”

I lean forward, eager for information. “What do we need to know?”

Sergei takes a deep breath, his gaze shifting between us. “The Bratva has resources everywhere. They’ll be tracking your movements, and with Lev leading the charge, you need to be prepared for anything.”

Alyssa’s grip tightens around my hand as she listens, her eyes darting around the diner. “What do we do?” she asks, her voice barely above a whisper.

“We need to get you out of the city,” Sergei says, his tone firm. “I’ve arranged a safe house where you can lay low for a while. It’s secluded, and I’ll make sure you’re protected.”

I feel a surge of relief mixed with apprehension. “When can we leave?”

“Immediately,” Sergei replies. “I’ll drive you myself. It’s the best option we have right now.”

“Good,” I say, rising to my feet. “Let’s not waste any time.”

Alyssa stands beside me, her expression resolute as we prepare to leave. I can see the determination in her eyes, and it strengthens my resolve.

As we step back into the night, I know we’re moving deeper into uncharted territory. The stakes have never been higher, and the Bratva is closing in. But together, we’ll face whatever comes our way. For Alyssa, I’d fight through hell and back.

We climb into Sergei’s car, and I feel Alyssa’s hand in mine, a lifeline in the chaos that surrounds us. The engine roars to life, and as we drive away from the diner, I can’t shake the feeling that our real fight is only just beginning.

The road ahead is dark and winding, and I can feel the tension in the air, thick enough to cut. I steal a glance at Alyssa, who stares out the window, lost in thought. I want to reassure her, to tell her that everything will be fine, but I can’t make any promises.

“Just stay close,” I whisper, squeezing her hand. “I won’t let anything happen to you.”

She nods, and I can see the fire in her eyes—a shared determination that solidifies our bond. Whatever dangers lie ahead, we’ll face them together, united against the world.

As we drive into the night, I know one thing for certain: there’s no turning back now. We’re committed to this fight, and I’ll do everything in my power to protect the woman I love. Together, we’ll carve out our own destiny, one that isn’t dictated by the shadows of the past. The future is uncertain, but for the first time, I feel a glimmer of hope.

Chapter Twenty-Three – Viktor

The storm clouds gather ominously overhead, a heavy blanket of gray that mirrors the tension thickening in the abandoned dock building. I stand beside Viktor, my heart pounding in my chest as we wait for Lev to arrive. The wind howls outside, rattling the metal siding, while the distant sound of water crashing against the docks adds to the unease settling in the pit of my stomach.

Viktor’s posture is rigid, his eyes focused on the entrance, scanning the shadows for any sign of movement. I can feel the weight of his presence beside me, the aura of danger and determination that surrounds him. It both calms and excites me—this man who has chosen me, yet carries the burden of a violent past that could come crashing down on us at any moment.

“Are you ready for this?” I ask, my voice barely above a whisper, breaking the heavy silence.

He glances at me, his jaw tight, but there’s a flicker of warmth in his gaze. “I have to be. For you.” His tone is resolute, yet I can see the uncertainty dancing in the depths of his eyes.
