“Just got a text from Bull.”
“Yeah, we better go before they come and get us. They’re not the most patient of men.”
Lulu would know.
Lissa drove us in her new BMW. We arrived at the clubhouse a few minutes before the ceremony was to begin. People were already sitting down in the outdoor chairs, each decorated with a large, white bow on the back. Others were standing around and talking. It was clear that the club members’ idea of dressing up was white or black dress shirts beneath their cuts. They still wore jeans and boots. Their women, though, had gone all out with their attire.
I exited the car and automatically searched for Loco.
“Our men are probably inside at the bar,” Lissa said confidently. She headed toward the door, and V and I followed.
“I’ll see you ladies later.” Lulu broke off from our group and headed toward the chairs where some of the old ladies were sitting.
The inside of the clubhouse caught me by surprise. I’d heard Loco complaining about all of the flowers and candles, and the silk table clothes, but I’d thought he’d been exaggerating. It was done up just like he’d said, only I found it looked absolutely beautiful. A large “Congratulations” banner with Annabelle and Danny’s names on it hung from the ceiling in the middle of the room. Confetti of red and white poppies covered the tabletops, and petals were strewn on the floors. The scent of the candles was mild and pleasing, and there was a live band getting set up. I’d have to compliment Bobby on how well she’d decorated.
I was sure that Annabelle would be happy.
“Bobby did a fantastic job with this place,” Lissa pointed out, clearly as impressed as I was. “She managed to turn a biker’s bar into a fairytale setting.”
V giggled. “Don’t let the men hear you say that.”
Speaking of men. They must have heard us come in. All three had turned around on their stools to face us as we approached. The looks in their eyes revealed their appreciation of how we looked. Their eyes moved over us like hungry predators. They had cleaned up nicely too, but I only had eyes for one man. Loco was wearing a black dress shirt beneath his cut, with black jeans and black boots, and he still looked like a dangerous outlaw. As I neared him, I caught his signature scent, something clean and citrusy that instantly turned me on.
He parted his legs to make room for me, and when I was close enough, he curled an arm around my waist and drew me against him.
“Damn, woman, you look good enough to eat,” he growled hotly against my ear.
I laughed huskily. “I could feast on you, too, lover boy.” Instantly realizing my mistake, I drew away. “Oops! Loco, it just slipped out—”
He laughed and pulled me back to him. “Relax, darlin’, you’re too fucking beautiful to mess up. I’ll give you a pass today.” He nuzzled the side of my neck just below my ear. “How did I get so fucking lucky?”
“I feel the same way,” I told him. I glanced over at V and Lissa. They were getting pretty much the same attentiveness from Bull and Frenchie. We all exchanged smiles before focusing our attention back on our men.
The door opened and someone yelled, “Wedding is about to start!”
The room cleared, and we all went outside to watch the ceremony, which to my surprise Doc was officiating.
Demon walked a beautiful Annabelle down a wooden platform covered in a red carpet that had been sprinkled with red and white poppies. Their destination was a beautiful, poppy-covered gazebo where a minister and Danny waited patiently. Even through her lace veil, I could see Annabelle’s radiant smile. She was wearing a mermaid-style gown that flattered her petite figure, her hair done in an elegant arrangement on top of her head. Once Demon handed her off to a smiling groom, he took a seat next to Bobby at the front.
Thank goodness the ceremony was short. It was very hot, and it didn’t take long for the sweat to start trickling between my breasts. I caught Loco’s smirk when he noticed and ignored him when he licked his bottom lip in an effort to get to me. As soon as Danny kissed Annabelle and they walked down the makeshift isle, we turned to go in.
“Fuck,” Loco muttered low.
I didn’t think that he’d intended for me to hear him. I glanced and saw that his attention was focused on something outside the gate. There was a black car parked right outside, and two people, a woman and man, leaned against it. They were dressed professionally and had serious, unfriendly expressions on their faces. I didn’t get the impression that they were guests arriving late. Before I could question Loco, he snagged Frenchie’s attention and motioned in that direction.
He looked back at me. “Go inside, babe.”
“You, too,” Frenchie said, making eye contact with Lissa.
Both men rushed off.
“Who do you think they are?” I asked Lissa. I noticed that LD was also heading in the direction of the gate. None of them looked too happy.
She barely gave them a glance. “I don’t know. Let’s go inside, it’s too damned hot out here.”
Giving them a last glance, I followed her inside. The room was packed and full of chatter. The band was playing something soft and romantic. It seemed that all the old ladies were crowded around Annabelle and Danny to wish them congratulations as they slowly made their way to their table. V was right there in the thick of it, looking very much like she belonged there.
I decided to wait until the crowd broke up. “I need to use the ladies’ room.”
