She looks at me like she’s thinking it over before smiling sarcastically. “No thanks.”

I roll my eyes at her.

“Anyways, I have to go. But don’t forget to give the boss a kiss for me,” she says as she cackles her way out of the dressing room.

Iama good girl. I better follow those orders.

Chapter Five

NICO

I watch the security camera to see Noel bounce out of the dressing room just one minute before the doors are supposed to open to SantaScape.

Then I see Eve leave right after, her hair and makeup slightly awry.

I don’t know what they were doing but whatever it was, I’m certain it wouldn’t get either of them on the nice list.

Part of me is aggravated that my secretary most likely stepped away from her desk to fool around with another employee. That might make me a little hypocritical but I don’t care. I’m more annoyed that I didn’t get to watch or participate in any of it.

Noel has been a pain in my ass since the day I stepped into this office. I can understand that not everyone likes change but as grown adults, I would like to think we’re adaptable.

Then again, my employees play dress up for a living.

Concentrating on my screen again, I watch Noel greet guest after guest, giving them genuine smiles.

I’m man enough to admit that I hate watching her give something to these strangers that she’s never given me. I’m also man enough to admit that I’m hoping that will change.

I wait until I hear Eve’s chair moving along the hardwood floors, signaling her return to her desk, before calling for her to join me in my office.

“Eve,” I say with authority. It might be her name but we both know it’s also a demand.

She doesn’t disappoint me as she complies, walking into my office with her hips swaying. As if her desk was merely a pit stop and I was her destination all along.

“I sure hope whatever matter that you needed to attend to was important,” I say with a bit of bite in my tone.

Eve circles my desk and I push my chair out, making the space for her to step between my legs.

Without saying a word, she leans down and kisses me.

I understand her intention immediately once the sweetness of what I assume is Noel’s orgasm hits my lips. Groaning against her mouth, I’m desperate for every bit of the taste.

My hands fist in her hair, fusing us together. We only break apart once I’m convinced there’s no remnants of Noel left for me to devour.

“Thank you,” I tell her genuinely.

She winks at me. “You’re welcome. But you should know I was just following orders.”

“Fuck.” My head leans back against my chair. “That little-”

“That little what?” Eve asks with a hint of warning while taking a seat in my lap.

“I was going to say brat.” I’m pretty sure I was, anyway.

She laughs as she leans against me. “Glad I could be your conduit, getting you a taste of what you really wanted.”

I know she doesn’t mean anything by it but it still rubs me the wrong way. It sounds like she’s a consolation prize.

Just because I’m attracted to Noel doesn’t make me any less interested in her or Kane.
