“Ex-boyfriend,” Zahra and I add helpfully.
Shae glares at us.
“Sorry,” Zahra mumbles.
“Just sayin’,” I whisper under my breath.
“My ex-boyfriend fucking sucked. I went back to my life, and all I could think about was you. Even when I didn’t want to. Even when all I wanted to remember about you was you saying goodbye, life had other plans.”
“Bella,” Salvatore says, standing and reaching for her. “Listen.”
She pushes his hands away. “No, you listen. You don’t get to push me away or send me back to the States for my own good again. We did that. I hated it. I’m staying with you.”
“Hold on,” I say.
“Love this,” Zahra says.
“I’m pregnant!” Shae yells at the top of her lungs. “And I’m staying with my baby’s daddy.”
The entire room goes still and quiet again. Except for me. I groan as loud as I can.
The Council is going to be so pissed.
