I did. And I don’t regret it one bit.

I take this opportunity to send a photo of Bella and her barbies spread across the living room floor.

Me

Dad stuff. Probably also laundry.

Tate

Sometimes she makes me wonder if I don’t actually want kids.

Collins

Literally nothing. Being around you guys all weekend is exhausting.

Nik

Ouch bro.

Collins

I will not apologize for it.

Me

The weather’s nice. Y'all want to come over, we can grill and take Bella swimming?

A resounding “yes” rings throughout the group chat just as Kodi enters the living room.

“Hey,” she grumbles, looking a little worse for wear.

“You feeling okay?” I know not to tell a woman she doesn’t look good because it never ends well.

A noise similar to a snarl comes from her direction. “Ugh, yeah. Just lady stuff. I wanted to grab coffee and a snack then go back to my hole.”

“Do you need anything? Do you mind if the guys come hang out? We were going to take this little lady swimming and do a little BBQ since it’s nice out. You’re more than welcome to join us.”

She laughs, “Maverick. It’s your house, you don’t need my permission to invite people over. As fun as that sounds, I may need a raincheck. And I don’t need anything. Thank you though.”

I give her a smile as she exits the room. Pulling out my phone, I place a grocery drop off order for the things I noticed Kodi had scrawled on the notepad in the kitchen, as well as some stuff for later. I throw in a few womens products, snacks, and drinks to help her stay hydrated; all things that a quick google search says most women crave or need during this time of the month.

An hour later, the guys are all outside with Bella and the grocery order is dropped off, so I head to the front door to receive the items. I organize them in the kitchen, putting all the items I got for Kodi in a separate bag.

I head towards her room, but her door is closed. I knock softly, bouncing back and forth between my feet waiting for her to answer. After a minute of waiting, I decide to leave the bag at her door and type out a quick text to let her know I left it there.

As I turn away, the door creeps open and a groggy Kodi is shooting daggers at me.

Oh shit, what did I do wrong?

BECAUSE FEELINGS AND NICE GESTURES AND HUGS.

Oh my God. My body is trying to take me out. The hot bath didn’t help. The meds aren’t helping. Staying hydrated isn’t helping. And to make things better, now someone is knocking on my bedroom door.
