“Oh, come on Autumn-Rose, have you seen the man?” Katy looks me up and down, giving me the chance to look over at Autumn again.

The only thing I can think about is kissing her again. Is she a woman I should be fucking with? She’s too innocent, too pure to have someone like me in her life.

“He is all-” Katy waves her hand in front of me. “-no words. You, Mr. Cain, is what other men should be jealous of.” Katy stops when Lincoln calls me, and her eyes move to him. “Hello, Mr. Upgrade, I’m Katy.”

“Hello.” Lincoln moves closer to me. “A problem in The Pit.” Nothing else needs to be said. I know this is going to be a fucking headache on top of the one I already have.

Probably two bastards fighting over something stupid, but it’s something I have to sort out.

Without saying anything, I walk back into the club, and I hear Lincoln saying bye to them both.

I fucking kissed her.

How the hell did that happen? Why did it happen? It’s the fucking pull I keep getting around her, a pull to be closer to her. And the only thing I want to do is sit on my couch and watch her from the window. Yet there is so much more I want to do to her.

But I can’t. She will run a mile when she sees what I really hide under these clothes, because there is nothing good or pretty like her friend said. It’s all dark and ugly.

Fuck.

Ten

Autumn-Rose

He kissed me.And it wasn’t a quick kiss, no this was hard, heavy. Oh my God, it was a kiss of all kisses. I can still feel it lingering on my lips, but then he walks off without a word. Nothing.

Did he think it was a bad kiss?

All I can say is I’ve never had a kiss hit me so hard, where it made my body shiver with excitement.

“Wow. That man is all round sexy. But fuck does he have a mysterious dark shadow hoovering over him? But would that stop me from jumping in his bed? No.” Katy finally turns to face me, and I roll my eyes at her. I press my lips together, still hoping to taste him. The strong whiskey hits the tip of my tongue. “Did you kiss him?”

“No, he kissed me-”

“And?” She links her arm through mine as we walk to the takeout place to grab the food. “It must be hot, because you’re blushing.”

“It was…I can still feel it on my lips.” I free my arm from Katy and rush into the Indian place and grab my food. Thankingthe guy behind the counter, and before I’m fully out of the place, Katy is wrapping her arm around mine.

“So it was a powerful kiss. I can see it.”

“See what?” I ask, walking past Skyline again. I look up at the bouncers and Mr. Upgrade, talking about something. He gives me a wink as I walk past, and all I can do is smile.

“I bet he has some demons hiding in the closet, too.” Katy gives Lincoln a wave, then gets back to me. “He has this whole strong, closed off vibe. That kind of stuff you need to have power over everything you do in life. Sex included.” I can’t help but burst out laughing. Only she would think about sex. I mean, I thought about what things Mr. Cain could do to me, and I have a feeling after one kiss, everything I’ve thought about might just be way off what he can do.

If he got me this excited with only a kiss, what would he do to my body if the chance ever came?

Getting into the apartment, I turn the alarm off and place everything on the wooden coffee table. Katy’s never asked me about the locks or the cameras I have in this place, and I hope she never does because I have no idea what to tell her.

She walks straight to the window while I grab the bottle of wine. I have a feeling tonight’s going to be another night of talking about that one man. Mr. Cain.

I’ve not once seen him in the apartment, which makes me wonder if he even lives there. I’ve never seen one light come on, either.

“Have you seen him walking around naked yet?” Katy asks, and I let out a snicker of a laugh.

“What?”

“I’ve not even seen the light come on. I’ve no idea what the apartment looks like.” I plate up my food and tell her to stop looking over and eat. It’s been a long day in the shop. All I want to do is eat, drink and think of Mr. Cain’s lips on mine.
