“You have no idea what you’re talking about!” She yells. Tears fully pouring down her face. “I had no choice. You did, but I didn’t.” She cries out.
Seeing her like this pulls at my heart, but knowing what she was doing right under my nose has me stepping past her. Heading back to my room to search for my phone.
“What are you doing? You need to sit down, Kens.”
“You don’t know what I need.” I snap.
I can feel her stepping closer to me.
“Kens.” She whispers.
Dropping my head forward, I look down and spot my phone and skirt on the floor by my bed. Going to bend down a pang shoots through me.
“Shit!” I yelp.
Ally nudges me to the side, bending to grab my phone, she looks me in the eyes. Placing it in my palm she leaves her hand in mine, our fingers resting against each other.
“I had no choice. Let me help you, please. Ask me anything and I’ll tell you.”
She’s practically begging. Offering information that I could use to prove my dad didn’t do the crimes he’s been accused of. Licking my lip my gaze moves to the window, taking a moment to think it over. She squeezes my fingers.
“Please, Kenna.” she pleads.
Pressing the power button on my phone I scroll through all my text and calls, making sure I don’t have anything important just sitting there. When I’m done I pull up Jax’s contact and hit call.
It rings twice and goes to voicemail. So I try calling again. Same thing. I scream out in frustration.
“He’s not going to answer.” Ally says, still standing close to me.
Stepping into her, my height giving me an advantage, my hands ball into fist.
“What the hell does that mean?” I ask.
Shrugging her shoulders, she looks away before her eyes connect back to mine, “He’s with Ryker and the boys.”
My stomach fills with acid at the thought of me causing Jax harm for just doing his job. Scrolling past his name, I search Rykers and hit send.
Same thing. Two rings and the line goes dead.
“I can’t deal with this right now.” I murmur.
My stomach rumbles at that time, so I leave Ally to follow behind me while I make my way to the kitchen. The ache in my shoulder is a steady throb and I know I should have it looked at, but the IV that was in my arm has me thinking Ryker had that done already. The only thing keeping me from checking the wound is a fear of seeing the damage.
“Since you seem to know so much, where is my car?” I ask Ally.
She’s sitting at the counter watching me like I’m going to fall over any second. I can see the worry painted all over her face, butpart of me questions if it’s all a facade. Getting a bowl, milk, and cereal I make myself something simple and easy. I’d be lying to myself if I thought I felt okay enough to cook.
“It’s here. Ryker had Cole bring it back. Ryker got you back here and found your key in your bag. Since you changed the locks.”
She pauses for a second, letting me know she must have tried hers and it didn’t work. It takes effort not to smirk at that, but I need more information so I play friendly.
“Anyway, West demanded we call a doctor to come here instead of taking you to the hospital. He didn’t think it’d look good for a Kingston to go in with a bullet hole in her body escorted by a Stone.” She rolls her eyes at that and lets out a scoff. Hmm… Seems like she might not have agreed with that decision.
“So, what? They called a doctor and had them come out to patch me up?” My brows arch in question. “What about Jax? Did you see him?”
Letting my worry slip could cause him more pain, especially if she’s still feeding them information. Ryker would kill him if he hasn’t already, even if he knew that I cared for him, even if it was as a big brother. There is no place for anyone else in my life when it comes to him. He’ll remove anyone who threatens his place in my life and I’m starting to see that no matter how hard I fight him I’ll never win.
Shaking her head, “No. They had me come straight here to sit with you. I didn’t know you were shot until I got here and saw the doc working on you.” Pointing to my shoulder, “He stitched you up pretty good and knocked you out with some pretty heavy shit. You lost so much blood, Kens.”
