My phone begins to buzz.

“Yes?”

“What is wrong with you?” she hisses out under her breath.

“What?”

“A hundred thousand dollars, Jackson?”

“You’re welcome.”

“Are you nuts? Everyone’s going to be talking about this.”

“Good. I had to show those fanboys of yours that their money isn’t worth shit compared to me. I’m the one who knows what you taste like, not them.”

I watch the way my words set her even further off balance.

“I, I don’t…” she stammers.

“You should really be paying attention to your stream, Sparkles, but don’t stop thinking of me. Bye.” I grin before hanging up and clicking out of her stream, pulling upFrozeLineinstead.

The second it loads, a party request comes in from Aleks and I hit accept, shifting my headset back on.

“I’m shoving a number two pencil in your dick hole,” Aleks barks.

“Is that foreplay?” Parker taunts.

“Am I interrupting your date?” I muse.

“Hey, mate. Nah, Aleks is just bitching ‘cause I got more kills than him.”

“Only because you fucking stole half my kills.”

“Testy.”

I snort. “All right, boys, let’s do this.”

TWENTY-SEVEN

DEER

DEERHUNTERR192302:CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU THIS WEEKEND

I stare down at the screenshot Rick sent me, my head still ringing.

They started spamming my DMs after the stream.

I’m just grateful it wasn’t during the stream itself because then Jackson might’ve seen it and he would’ve lost it. Although, it would only serve him right after pulling that stunt. Seriously, I can’t believe he did that.

Was it kinda hot and possessive? Sure.

Was it also totally excessive? Yes.

Am I totally confused about my feelings? One hundred percent.

Still, I don’t need him to know about this and be even more worried about me this weekend than he already is. I’m already nervous as shite, and these comments are not helping.

It’s my first time going to a convention since the swatting incident, and yet the Deer Hunters just had to go and make it worse. I’d barely been able to have fun at the last gaming tournament I went to, because of them, holing myself up in The System’s green room when I wasn’t having to make appearances.
