Azazel wrapped one hand in her dark curls, fisting them tightly, and pulled her head back, exposing her throat. His lips found her skin, burning a path down her sensitive, overheated flesh until he settled his mouth between her breasts, pressing his lips to the place where their soul rested inside her.

She groaned as it flared to life, demanding more, demandingeverything.

Raising her hips, Rebecca positioned herself over his hard length and slid down slowly, nearly crying out as he filled her.

His hand tightened in her curls as his muscles tensed, and she rose again, painfully slowly, before letting her hips drop quicker this time.

“Light,” he breathed. His grip loosened on her hair as his claws found her hips, digging sharp points into her skin as he took control, moving her faster.

The intoxicating mix of pleasure and pain made Rebecca’s body tremble until she thought she would burst.

She tipped forward, pressing wet lips to his blood-slicked ones. Their blood mingling, a swapping of their very essence, coupled with their bodies joined in the act of lovemaking, was a dangerous combination, threatening to send her over the edge before she’d ever explored the limits of her body in Nephilim form.

Let go, Light.

She did. Every emotion tore through her as she moved, and her body shook, convulsing as she screamed his name. In that moment, she shattered, breaking into a million pieces, and slowly, their joined bodies and souls pieced her back together again.

Azazel released her hips, claws retracting, and he cupped her face in his hands, pressing a soft kiss to her mouth. Dark wings curled around her, cocooning them from the world as he brushed another chaste kiss to her swollen lips.

They stayed like that for a while, breathing each other in, stealing a few precious moments from the world.

Chapter 67

Simon

Simon slammed the laptop closed and reached for his phone. He pressed Allie’s name, mashing it down until it rang. She was in trouble. That monster was attacking her.

He couldn't see her, but he had heard enough. She had told him to stop, and clearly, he hadn’t. “Don’t do that,” she’d said, yet moments later, the feed darkened along the hallways leading to her bedroom, and the room camera went black.

Although the audio worked downstairs, her room’s audio was still silent. Simon had stared in horror at a black screen for several moments, imagining the worst, envisioning the demon pinning her down and ravishing her while she screamed for anyone to help.

Simon pressed her name again, listening as the phone went to voicemail.

“Rebecca. Rebecca, don’t worry. I’m coming, and I will end that piece of shit.”

He pressed the call button beside his bed and balled his hands into fists while waiting for someone to come.

His nurse bustled into the room. “How can I help you, Mr. Carey?”

“I need to get out of here. I need a cab to the airport.”

She wrinkled her nose, glancing down the bed to his numb appendages. “I don’t think so, not tonight. Why don’t I help you find something to watch? Or I could bring you a book?”

Simon knocked his laptop to the floor and slammed his fist on the bed. “You’re not listening!” he bellowed.

“Don’t take that tone with me, sir. Tell me the problem, and we’ll come up with a solution.” She bent, picked up his laptop, and set it on the table beside him.

“Someone has been injured—a very dear friend. I need to help her. I need to gonow.”

“Okay, calm down,” the nurse said. “Let’s call the police. They would get there much faster than we would. What’s your friend’s name? Where is she right now?”

Simon ground his teeth, fisting his hand in the sheets. “You know what, never mind. If you pass me my laptop, I’ll take care of it.”

His nurse glanced at his laptop and back to him. “I can’t let you leave, Mr. Carey. The doctor has you slated for surgery in four hours. Don’t you want to walk again?”

Her face went blank, and then his nurse slumped forward, falling against his bed before she slid to the floor. Behind her, a woman with an odd pallor to her skin stood, smiling.

“I think I can help you.”
