“Because my dipshit of a daughter allowed that asshat of an ex-husband to abuse your daughter. Forced her to marry a Marine who abused her and their son, your oldest grandson. Now said asshat of an ex-husband had her kidnapped because she and her team were close to finding him and shutting down his trafficking operation. She’s missing. We just found out about the affair ourselves, which is why we are now informing you, young man. Congrats, you’re a daddy and you damn well better treat my granddaughter like she should have been treated. I’m still sour with the fact I let this one lie to me about what was going on,” Jeannette admitted to General McCoy as she tapped her cane against the floor again.

“What is being done to find her?”

“We’ve done everything we can think of. Her rings, necklace, vest and boots were taken off. All items that had trackers in them.” Captain Irby sighed heavily as she gave General McCoy the rundown of what’s been done so far.

“Ghost…”

“I’m on it, sir. We all are. She’s always been ours since she saved Wolf’s life a few years ago. But now that we know she’s your daughter, she’s solidly ours.”

“Besides Dominick, and this Maria person, how many other children are there?” General McCoy asked, glaring at Kathy.

“Dominick and Maria are the only two we had together. Laura is the only one I had from you. David has several from other women he’s had affairs with.” Kathy sighed as she sat down in the chair that had been appointed for her.

“You mentioned a Deanna earlier. Who is that?” Captain Irby refused to give Kathy even an inch.

“Ah, the Placid tramp. Her family has been trying to get that woman married off to any asshole who would take her skanky ass off their hands.” Jeannette rolled her eyes at whoever looked her way.

“That was who David was in love with when he got drunk at a party and we slept together…”

“She tricked him into sleeping with her, more like it. Got him drunk on several occasions and then took advantage of his intoxication. I still don’t know which one of you two were a bigger whore, you or that Placid twat. It was like a fucking game with whose twat was made out of gold more. The only reason you won was because you got knocked up,” Jeannette held nothing back when she berated her daughter’s faults.

“Well, if you and Daddy…”

“Yeah, yeah. If we hadn’t suggested you marry the rich Mr. Magoo looking dude. I’m glad he didn’t marry you. Ruth was abetter fit for him anyway. He’s a good boy. I don’t know where I went wrong with you. You were always like this. You never wanted for anything. You were spoiled rotten. Your father didn’t deserve the treatment you gave him in the end,” Jeannette told Kathy, shaking her head at the woman.

“Well, he left me out of the will when he died so you should be happy.” Kathy sniffed as she glared at her mother.

“What the hell did you expect? You didn’t call him. You didn’t visit him. You demanded that he make David marry you when you found out you were pregnant. You threw a fit when you found out he was on the way to the courthouse to marry that Deanna chick. You threatened to go to David’s command and cry rape. You were horrid. That’s not how we raised you!”

“No, you didn’t always give me what I wanted. You thought tough love was the way to go when I acted out. You spoiled Ruth and Charlie as if they were the best little fucking angels on the planet. I was a fucking afterthought.”

“Lord, help me with this child I should have spit instead of swallowed. Kathy, you were treated with the same respect as the other two were. You were expected to get good grades, just like they were. You had chores, just like they did. Did your father and I rely on you a little more with them? Yes. You were the oldest and you were also paid when you were babysitting them, and you were even given a fucking car. Something your father put in his name. Yet you nearly ruined his credit when you refused to pay the damn car note claiming it wasn’t in your name, so you didn’t have to do shit.” Jeannette smacked the table as she glared at her daughter.

“As much as I hate to say it, Grandma Jean, I’m kind of glad you did swallow instead of spit. Because we have Red on the head and Dom over there,” Diesel quipped, having everyone looking at her like she’d lost her head.

“Well, dear, as my late husband used to say, spitting is for quitters.”

CHAPTER THIRTEEN

“What do we know about the people that have my daughter?” General McCoy questioned as he looked around the room, ignoring Kathy.

“We know that David and his daughter, Maria, dub themselves Arrow. They have their hands in several pockets of human trafficking that we are now connecting them to. What I’m not getting is if David and the last two groups we’ve encountered have such low regards for women, especially women in control, how is it that Maria is able to do the things she’s doing? Wouldn’t David be keeping a tight leash on her?” York wondered as she looked over the file she had in front of her.

“That’s always been my curiosity,” Diesel replied, agreeing with York.

“What if someone else is really the mastermind but to keep themselves hidden, they chose Maria to be the face for the meetings and what not, letting her think she’s in charge?”

“Dad isn’t smart enough to come up with all this. I have to agree with York. Someone else is pulling the strings. He is the manager, and Maria is just the face. She hasn’t done anything that warrants them to have her punished, yet. They’ve stayedunder the radar since the last raid. That was on Adamson, not them at that time,” Dominick reminded the group.

“Raid? Adamson?” General McCoy looked between Dominick to Alpha Squad for an answer.

While Dominick advised Wolf, Ghost, their men, and General McCoy about the case that had him meeting his lass, Highlander looked over at his team. They had been the main team that worked on trying to bring down Arrow before he’d met Laura. The fact that Maria was claiming she was the Arrow never sat right with them.

“Maria isn’t Arrow. She’s the new face. Dominick, what is known about ye father’s side of the family and Laura’s ex-husband’s family? I know Jon’s father, grandfather, and uncle were all part of congress in some shape or form. What about David’s family?” Highlander asked, looking over at Dominick.

“Dad was one of three boys. Never met the brothers.” Dominick shrugged as he looked over at his mother.

Kathy coughed as she realized all eyes were on her. She refused to look up and acknowledge anyone or that she knew they were staring at her.
