“Fred? He thought you were a secret space agent.”

Jill sighed. “See, that’s why I don’t like meeting your friends.”

“Bullshit, you don’t like meeting anyone,” he said and looked over her shoulder. “There’s Emma, and it looks like she found her father. He just arrived this morning as well. Hey, there’s a chance you two were on the same plane since you had to change your flights.”

“How do I look?” she asked, looking down at her dress.

“You look fine,” Terry said after sparing her a glance.

“Come on, I'm about to meet your new father-in-law. I need to make a good first impression.”

He took a second look and tucked an errant lock of hair behind her head. “Now, you look perfect. Don’t worry, Emma’s dad is chill. You’ll love him. Also, you’ll be seeing a lot more of him from now on, so big smile. Don’t forget, technically, he will be your father-in-law too.”

“That’s true,” Jill said after thinking about it for a second. “Well, here goes nothing,” she said as she turned around...

...and found herself looking into the eyes of the stranger from the plane. The man in whose arms she’d spent hours. The manwho had made her orgasm with his hands 35,000 feet in the air. The man who had called her Princess and whispered such dirty things in her ears the memory was enough to make her blush. The man she’d raced away from at the airport, thinking she would never see again. The man who seemed just as shocked to see her as she was to see him. Her new father-in-law.

Jill squeaked.

Chapter Three

“Dad, this is Jill, Terry’s sister.” Emma was smiling as she introduced her father to Jill.

“Jill,” he said, calling her name for the first time. He seemed to have gotten over his shock quickly.

“What?” she mumbled, still shell-shocked to see him at her brother’s rehearsal dinner. She jerked back when she saw his hand, and it took her a few seconds to realize he was holding it out to shake hers. Terry nudged her, and she hurriedly grabbed his hand.

“Hi, Mr. Holt,” she said.

“Nice to meet you, Jill. You can call me Bradley,” he replied, his facial expression inscrutable as he held her hands and looked into his eyes.

The handshake was going on for too long, so she snatched her hand back.

Confused by his sister’s behavior, Terry stepped in to save the day. “I was just telling Jill it’s possible you both arrived on the same plane. She missed her original flight and had to book another one.”

“Is that so?” Bradley asked, a gleam appearing in his eyes as he looked at her. “You know it’s smart to be at the airport at leasttwo hours before your flight. How did you get to the airport so late?”

"Who cares?” she bit through gritted teeth, aware he was teasing her.

“Problem with her car,” Terry chimed in again, nudging Jill in the middle of her back a second time.

She cleared her throat and plastered a smile on her face. “Yes, I had a problem with my car on my way to the airport. Silly me for thinking that the car I’ve been driving for weeks without any problems would not disappoint me at a crucial time,” she said with a sickly sweet smile.

“Happens to the best of us,” he replied without missing a beat. “I hope you found the journey pleasurable and entertaining at least.”

Jill coughed and spluttered, too stunned to think of a reply.

“Not sure how pleasurable she would have found it since she flew economy.” Terry came to her rescue. “Definitely not as comfortable as you would have been in first class.”

“That's a pity,” Bradley said, his gaze still fixed on her. “If I’d known you were on the plane with me, I would have had them bring you up to first class and make sure your flight was as comfortable and as pleasurable as possible...”

“I have to use the bathroom,” Jill squeaked, turning around and walking away before anyone could stop her.

She had no idea where the bathroom was but kept walking until she left the hall. Opening the door to her left, she saw it was a storage room and entered it without thinking. She closed the door behind her and then held her face in her hands as she came to grips with everything that had just happened. She thought she’d seen the last of the stranger from the airport, but not only was he back in her life somehow, it seemed he was going to be in it for good.

Taking several deep breaths to calm her nerves, Jill wondered what she would do about her predicament. She still had an entire rehearsal dinner to get through, which meant being in the same room with him for several hours. Then there was the wedding to think about. She had no idea how she was going to get through it all.

She waited in the closet until her frayed nerves were back, then looked down at her dress to ensure everything was in place before returning to the hall. As she reached for the door, it swung open, and he stood in the doorway.
