I let out a sigh, trying to pull my thoughts together, and I stepped back. I have done this a million plus times. If I couldn’t get a grip on my emotions this wasn’t going to work out well. Pulling out a hot suit, I held it up. “Yes, this will do just fine,” I said, grinning.
It was a similar suit to the ones used by the staff at the building I was going to infiltrate. I felt sure it wasn’t needed as the idea was to get in and out without being spotted. Yet, I have learned one could never be too careful. With the suit, if I was seen, the guards would think I worked there.
Pulling on the black leather pants, I slipped on the white top and black undercoat attached to it. The outfit framed my body perfectly like a second skin. Stepping into my black heels with the hidden blades, I felt invincible.
Piotr had given me these heels two years back. This was the third time I wore them. He had always looked out for us, and these were in case of an emergency. Tying my hair into a messy bun, I applied a dash of makeup.
It was still early, and I would be spending the day in this outfit. But I felt it was a good idea. I didn’t want to go there looking like I had just gotten dressed. I had to look the part; therefore, my clothes also had to look worn.
Looking into the mirror attached to the closet door, I felt fierce. Hearing a light knock on the door, I turned as I spoke. “Come in.”
Aleksandr entered and stopped. His mouth fell open as he stared at me. He gave me a once over, as a devilish smile formed on his lips. I felt my cheeks heating and knew they were turning red. Directing my gaze to the floor, I tried hiding the blush. “You look so good,” he huffed.
Biting my lower lip, swaying gently from side to side, I looked at him as I spoke. “Thank you.”
Aleksandr stepped closer. “You look amazing. I won’t hide it. I wish you didn’t have to wear this. I don’t want another man laying his eyes on you.” I felt his strong hands gripping my hips.
I smiled up at him, flinging my arms around his neck. Pulling lightly, I rose to my toes, whispering in his ear. “Don’t be jealous. You’re the only man that gets to hold me at night.”
He laughed softly, kissing my neck. “Don’t make empty promises,” he whispered.
I felt the heat rushing through me as my entire body appeared to be on fire. Turning away, I replied quietly. “Don’t you have work to do?”
Aleksandr lightly smacked my butt before leaving. Looking back, I let out a soft sigh. I saw him pausing at the door. He didn’t turn back as he spoke. “We’ll be leaving in an hour for the office so you and Tasha can get sorted before the event.”
After taking a couple of deep breaths to calm my raging hormones, I collected my bag with my tools, and went downstairs. There appeared to be more guards than usual. Akim was still there. He was talking to three of the guards.
“Good morning, Akim,” I said, walking toward them.
“Morning, Mila,” he replied in a calm tone. “You ready for this?”
“I was born ready.”
As Akim laughed, I could hear he was nervous. When he spoke, he sounded fine, but now, I knew he wasn’t.
“It’s going to be fine, Akim. Please don’t worry.” I said, hugging him lightly.
“Right, off to the office,” I heard Aleksandr speaking behind me.
Akim drove with us to the office. The ride was uneventful, but Aleksandr kept his hand on my thigh the entire time. Every now and then, he would squeeze my leg. I was sure he was nervous, but he hid it well.
Tasha had already planned my route. She explained how she worked out the best possibility. We compared notes, and I agreed that her deductions were spot on. We covered all the external factors that could cause issues a million times. The day passed quicker than I hoped. But I felt ready when Aleksandr came in announcing it was time.
Akim, Tasha, and two guards followed us in their truck. It held many similar aspects to the one I usually worked out of. The difference was that they had never used it.
Aleksandr stopped half a block down the street from the target. He breathed in deeply before speaking. “Please be careful. If anything goes sideways, get out or give the word, and we will come in for you.”
As he spoke, I realized just how much trust he placed in me. Plus, he was allowing me to do this my way. I was flooded with feelings of gratitude. I knew this couldn’t be easy for him.Leaning over, I tenderly kissed his cheek before speaking. “Don’t worry, I’ll be back in a jiffy. I’ve got this.”
Getting out, I gave Aleksandr my best smile. He nodded, picked up his radio, and spoke to Tasha in the van. “Pull closer, I’ll hang back.”
I waited for them to pass before heading towards the building. Approaching the side entrance, I noticed guards coming around the corner at the back. I hid in the bushes, hoping they would pass. But they didn’t; they stopped by the door.
Deciding to use the back entrance, I tiptoed to the back of the building. This wasn’t an option either, as about ten guards were standing around. I knew I had a limited time to get into the system. Once they did the reboot, I wouldn’t get in with the codes I had.
There was no other option than to go with plan B, the front door. I was confident in my abilities to pull this off. It wouldn’t be the first time, either. I took a deep breath, turned on my heels, and headed to the mouth of the beast.
The security had their eyes on me as I approached. I felt their eyes scrutinizing me. “You new?” the one asked, holding out his arm so I couldn’t go in. The other one had a sleazy smile, and I felt sure he was undressing me with his eyes.
