The hungry possessiveness I find in his eyes brings me to a halt. “Kill you? Nah. I think I’ll keep you.”
“I love you—I mean.”Shit.“Not love—you know what I mean.”
Dane laughs. “Yes, I know. You love my superior hot chocolate.”
“Yeah, I was talking to the chocolate.”
There’s also candy he bought from the drugstore. I grab a bar out of the bag and start eating it. Damn, that’s good. There’s crispy praline in each bite and creamy hazelnut.
It’s to die for.
After I finish eating, I put the wrapper back in the bag, and he shakes his head. “I’ll take the trash.”
“Dane, you don’t have to do that.”
“Yeah, I do.”
“No, really, this is too much.”
“It’s not nearly enough. Every girl deserves to be spoiled when she feels like shit.”
I sigh, closing my eyes again. “I could get used to this.”But you shouldn’t.
Dane Sinclair is a drug.
One dose, and you’re hooked for life.

JOSIE
I arrive earlyto our flight and am already on the plane when Dane and his sister arrive.
Molly sees me as she walks through the aisle to find a seat and smiles broadly. My stomach flutters. She seems so excited.Maybe he talked to her about me.
Excitement courses through my body as she approaches.
“Mind if I sit next to you?” she asks.
I gesture to the seat by the window. “Have at it.”
“Great, thanks.” She turns to face her brother. “I’m going to sit with Josie. Let me know if you need me.”
When she steps past me, I get a clear view of him, and I feel my cheeks getting warm. When I left this morning, we hadn’t spoken about this trip, but I assume after the past few days, he’ll want me in his bed . . .
Maybe he’ll even want to discuss us.
I open my mouth to say something, but hedoesn’t even look at me. He just continues walking to another seat farther back on the plane.
My heart feels like it’s going to explode from my chest.
Did that really just happen?
Maybe I’m reading too much into it. Perhaps he was preoccupied with finding a seat. Things always get a little nuts when you’re on a plane.
Yeah, that’s it. It’s fine.We’re fine.
“I’m so excited to go swimming.”
