For a thousand years, I served others. I answered their calls. I carried out their commands. While I had enjoyed a measure of power and influence, I had never truly ruled.

I often wondered what a crown might feel like onmybrow, howImight wield such power if the Spirits placed it in my hands. As I stood and stared at the blood-gemmed crown, my mind raced at the future now within my grasp.

I reached out and gripped my prize.

The dented gold and silver could be easily repaired, but the jewels were irreplaceable. As diamonds, they were alsoindestructible. My grin broadened as I watched them glow and pulse.

All seven, perfectly intact.
