“Why are you flying out of bed like you’re being attacked?” Luka retorted, tossing the dagger aside and flopping down onto his back when he realized there was no danger.
“Why are you in this bed?” Tessa demanded. Then she realized where they were.
A large bedroom with double doors leading to a balcony overlooking gardens at the base of mountains. A doorway that would lead to an extravagant bathroom. Another doorway that would lead to a small room with a single bed and desk. The portrait of four black horses above the bed.
They were at Arius House.
“How did we get here?” Tessa asked.
“You’re full of questions for someone who just woke up after sleeping for nearly two days,” Theon muttered, his dagger disappearing in a swirl of dark mist. He dragged a hand down his face, his ebony hair mussed and disheveled.
“Two days?” she repeated.
“How are you feeling?” Theon asked, now appearing fully awake. He was watching her wearily, and she could feel apprehension that wasn’t hers.
Oh gods.
She was feeling what he was feeling. She could scarcely handle her own emotions, let alone his.
“Tessa…” Theon said, trailing off as he clearly felt her sudden inner turmoil. “This is fine. We’ll figure it all out. We just need to adjust a little.”
“Right. Adjust,” she murmured, watching Luka slide from the bed.
Naked.
She looked down as if she might find herself naked as well. But no, she was in the loose pants and Theon’s shirt she vaguely remembered changing into at the townhouse. Looking back up, she found Luka sliding on a pair of pants, which was kind of disappointing.
“Why are you naked?” she blurted.
“I’m not,” was his answer, and Tessa rolled her eyes.
“Whywereyou naked?”
“I sleep naked.”
Her head tilted, watching as he buttoned his pants. “All the time?”
“Obviously,” he answered dryly. His gaze flicked to Theon. “You good?”
Theon nodded. Luka stalked to the balcony door, and Tessa watched the muscles in his back ripple as wings appeared when he stepped outside. Then he was launching into the sky, and something in her was upset to see him go.
Which was stupid.
She was still furious with him.
“You feel…a lot of things very quickly all the time,” Theon said, drawing her attention back to him.
Tessa was fiddling with the bands on her wrists. If she’d been sleeping for two days, no wonder she was restless and feeling out of sorts. It certainly had nothing to do with waking up between two males, one of them very naked.
The thought alone made her hot.
She glanced at Theon. At least he had pants on.
Except she was irritated by that rather than relieved.
Godsdammit.
“Why was he in bed with us?” Tessa asked.
