"Take a guess."
"You...weighed the pros and cons?"
"Guess again."
"You..."
"Prayed."
Did he just say...
"But I'm still not good at it."
Is this real, God?
"And since I'm not good at it, my daughter isn't either."
Vixen couldn't speak at this point since she was crying harder than ever.
"And in case you don't understand what I'm getting at—-I'm saying that you'll have your work cut out with us two. So if you still want to change your mind, now's the time—-"
Vixen threw herself in his arms, and Rule's words came to an abrupt halt.
A moment later, she felt his arms wrap tightly around hers, and she buried her face against his chest as she cried her heart out.
In joy.
Thank You.
Because this time, there was no longer any reason for doubt.
So, so much.
Even when Rule had yet to say the words—-
Thank You.
It was just so obvious now.
Now that Rule had finally realized how much God loved him—-
And Rule was starting to understand how to love Him back—-
That was how she knew Rule was the man He had chosen for her.
Eight
VIXEN FELT AS IF SHEwas floating for the rest of the day, and she was just so, so happy that she couldn't stop smiling despite everyone teasing her over yesterday's big "announcement" about her dating life.
There were, of course, a few neighbors who weren't able to resist asking her about theotherwoman currently staying at Rule's place, but all she was willing to confirm was that BeatrizwasRiley's mother.
And speaking of which...
It was late in the afternoon when silence swept over the cafe, with Beatriz herself making a splashy entrance as her stilettos clicked loudly against the floor.
"I'd like to speak with you."
Several eyebrows arched up at the other woman's imperious tone, more so when Beatriz abruptly turned her back without waiting for Vixen to answer.
