I turned around to face them. “I swear to you, my brothers, I will behave when this ass-face is neutralized.”

In unison, they sighed but nodded. “Yeah, we know.”

“All right already, c’mon you mush heads, and let’s go find an axe murderer,” Judas sang.

“Technically a dagger murderer,” Roe pointed out.

We all stopped when we arrived at the grave marked for Megan. I thought it was a good conversation, but it was clear that Pharoah had been building a connection with her.

“I’m sorry, my brother.”

He gave her headstone and an honorable nod, then kept walking. Not knowing what else to do, Judas and I followed.

“So you gonna picket-fence-it with this chick, Gee?”

I snorted at the thought, but at the same time, I couldn’t help but feel a strange pull at the want I had to do that with her. I’d never been a child person, but Ezello would be a damn good mom. Who was I kidding? She hated me by now. It had been a few hours since I locked her ass up.

“Can we not worry about my love life and focus on sticking this prick in his own unmarked grave, please?”

They snickered but otherwise quieted.

“She probably hates my fucking skin,” I said aloud, the feeling making me shake.

Pharaoh laughed. “Out of everything she could use to justify that feeling, why this time?”

I smacked him in the back of the head.“I’m serious!”

Judas argued over his shoulder with Larry about if I was a shitty lay while Pharoah returned fire.

“I’m just saying, bro!”

I rolled my eyes. “I may have locked her in the cabin…so she didn’t try something stupid like trying to come after us.”

Pharaoh shook his head, his dark brown hair looking black under the night sky. “My man, you should have known better. For all our sakes, I hope you threw away the key, or we’re going to find it shoved up your ass.”

He really left. That fuckingcobarde!

Seething, I tried to calm my shattering heart and get my wits together in order to get out. Taliah, by the silence outside the door, wasn’t here any longer either.

“Fuck you, Goliath,” I muttered while searching the desk by the bed. Of course, he’d cleared everything out.

Walking over to the window, I screamed again when I realized it was bolted shut. Reaching under the bed, I grabbed my heels, using the pointy end to smash the center of the door to smithereens.

“How do you like me now?”

Seeing just a hole now from the damage, I squinted my eyes and looked down. A fucking padlock was sealed onto the handle of the door!

Running to the closet, I shoved the hangers aside, trying to look for a wired one among the plastic ones.My ferocity knocked several onto the ground, and the sound they made when they fell on the panel was hollow. With my interest peaked, I leaned down and knocked onto the floor, the sound echoing back with empty space.

Using one of the hangers, I dug into the side of the panel and lifted a secret compartment, opening up and becoming visible with the light from the room.Reaching my hand inside, I found money, passports that had pictures that looked exactly like the triplets, a gun, and a shiny metal object.

Using my finger to run across the name written on the badge, I wanted to flinch when my heart squeezed in my chest.

Officer Goliath Masters, 0924.

A tear slipped from my cheek. Goliath’s whole life had been taken from him. I pulled the note from my pocket and read the words that broke me aloud.

Little Lamb,
