“Just when I think you can’t surprise me anymore…you do. The next time you orgasm, mylittle waterfall, when myname comes out of that naughty mouth, my tongue will be on thatweeping cunt. And you’re going to let me drink every drop I earn like a good fucking girl.”

Quinn clapped me on the shoulder, the desk clattering from the thump of my knee smacking the underside.

“Ow, you numbnuts,” I hissed in a whispered tone.

Apparently, it wasn’t quiet enough because Sergeant Mills’s booming tone slammed into my ear drums.“If you two love birds are more interested in playing footsie than my lecture, you know where the door is!”

I winced at the tone, and Micah and I quickly stopped sniggering to apologize to our superior.

It wasn’t my fault my dumbass best friend decided to razz me at that moment. He was always getting me into trouble, making me look like an idiot. We were equally matched in our training. I had known the kid for a week, and it was an instant bromance when he beat me in a race despite my being much taller. It showed he had balls and didn’t take the easy way out.

We were constantly getting into trouble together, and it was anyone’s guess why the chief wanted us together on our first assignment tonight.

I had to admit I was nervous as hell. It was one thing to make a joke out of the training and have everything we did become a competitive sport. We bested all who challenged us, but now we were going onto the streets. We had to put our big boy panties on and nut up.

“Hey, wait up, Lithy Poo!”

I rolled my eyes but slowed down for Quinn to catch up.

“You’re such a dumbass, Quinny Binny.”

He smacked my arm and dodged my kissy face.

“Yeah, okay. Well, we’ll see who’s a dumbass tonight, won’t we?”

He was joking around, but I could tell he was upset.

“Micah, it’s cool, man. We’ve got this. And honestly, even if shit goes sideways for whatever reason, I got you, brother.”

I woke up in bed,my anger raging, the memory of that day had been burned into my skull.Fucking Micah.Looking around, I saw the space was still covered in darkness, and I knew it was about three hours before it lit up.

I kept replaying in my mind that tantalizing fucking woman. How the fuck did she make me want her so badly? Was I turning into Pharaoh? A damn glorified stalker? Meh, she wanted it. I didn’t go to her until I heard my fucking name being moaned.

I heard shuffling beside me.My abrupt zombie lift probably roused Judas from the bed.Judas didn’t speak, and I didn’t say anything to him. I was just curious why he had woken up.

“Yes, Larry! I got it,” he hissed to the darkness, shuffling around near the door where our shoes and shit were.

What the fuck?

“Hello? Yes, I did. Did you get it?… Excellent. Not much longer, honestly. There may be a slight issue, but—” My brother paused, the sound of slapping occurring. “Hello? What? Who’s this? Hello?”

I furrowed my brow, finally walking over to my brother and reaching out. “Judes? You good, bro?”

There was a beat of silence, and Judas didn’t take my hand or move from the spot he was in. Finally, after some awkward silence, he mumbled, “Yeah, man. I just got…I dunno.I need to take a leak.”

I looked in the opposite corner where the toilet was, my confusion growing even fucking more. “Yeah, okay, Judas. We’ll get some rest. It’s still a while ‘til lights up.”

Judas shuffled beside me, both our uncertainties clinging in the air.Laying back down, I tried to close my eyes, and this time, I wasn’t assaulted by my past.

Later that afternoon,I stared at the potato soup, then looked at Mary, remembering her new means of “potato-humping friction.”

“Hey Judes, you want mine? Not hungry?”

Judas snatched my bowl, and Roe raised an eyebrow at me. “Dude, what the fucks up with you? You’re hopping around like a bunny rabbit. You okay?”

I nodded, not meeting his all-knowing fucking eyes, so I settled for a half-truth. “Yep, couldn’t sleep.”

Now, Roe laughed. “Could it be perhaps because that little ‘pocket rocket’ is taking up rez here? She’s nosy, and fuck, there’s something I can’t figure out.”
