The males all share a look, and Axe sighs, raking a hand through his long hair. “August told us that Milana was his fated mate. And we used that to get them both here.”

My eyes widen at that bit of information that no one has shared with me.

Milana, Declan’s daughter, the one I got the information from, is August’s fated mate?

Milana, who was friends with Vera, Vale’s mother?

No wonder Astrid forbade me from touching her.

“Where is she now?” Astrid asks, frowning. She leans into Rave, who instantly wraps his arms around her and kisses her temple.

Bane nods his head toward the dungeons.

“And August is okay with you having his mate down here?” she probes, her tone increasing in pitch. “And where the hell is he?”

Bane turns those dark, cold eyes to me. “We thought it would be less distracting if he weren’t here.”

“And yeah, August is the one who came up with the plan,” Zython adds, a hint of pride entering his eyes.

Has he adopted August too?

“That’s fucked up,” Astrid mutters while Pandora reaches out and takes her hand.

And it is.

I hope Milana will forgive August.

“So what’s the plan?” my little witch asks, speaking up for the first time. “I’m guessing we don’t have long until his army is at the gates.”

Zython dips his head. “We kill Declan.”

“And then we go to war,” Bane finishes. Thunder crackles outside, the loud booming sound making a declaration.

Declan wants our queen.

And now we will have his head.

CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN

Pandora

While everyone with a dick heads down to the dungeons, probably with a hard-on at the thought of torturing our enemy, Astrid and I go find August. I didn’t know Milana was his mate, and with her down in the dungeons, I have to wonder where his head is at.

“They won’t hurt her, will they?” I ask, frowning at the thought.

Astrid shakes her head. “No, not since she’s his mate. That’s a line they won’t cross. It’s up to August to handle her.”

“Doesn’t look like he’s doing a very good job,” I mutter, wondering how the hell this will play out. I turn to the seer next to me. “What else do you know that you haven’t shared?”

She laughs. “Many, many things, my dear friend.” She stops and turns to me. “Does Soren know about your magic?”

I shake my head. “Not unless Rave has said something to him. I don’t think he’s ever actually seen me use any magic. He probably thinks I’m only good for spells and potions.”

“He definitely knows you’re good for masking spells.” She smirks, amused at her own joke. We stop at his bedroom door, and Astrid knocks loudly. “August?”

A shirtless August answers, squinting his brown eyes at us. He absently scratches his hard chest. “What are you both doing here?”

“Came to see how you’re doing with the whole mate-in-the-dungeon situation,” Astrid says gently, offering him a small smile.
