He leaned forward until their lips were almost touching. “You weren’t embarrassed when I was eating your pussy.”
She slapped his shoulder and he leaned back with a smile when he saw her cheeks had reddened.
“It’s different in the heat of the moment.”
Not wanting to embarrass her further, he handed her the cloth and gave her his back, but not before he saw her small, appreciative smile.
He turned back around when he felt a light touch on his arm. “Thank you.”
He took the cloth, taking it to the bathroom. She was already under the covers when he returned. He slipped under to join her and she rolled to her side, placing her head on his chest. He wrapped an arm around her, his fingers playing over the soft skin of her back.
He was the first to break their shared silence. “Seeing you come apart was even better than what I imagined, and my fantasies were pretty damn explicit.”
She raised her head from his chest, tilting it back to look at him. “You fantasized about me?”
“Because of my stubborn pride, I had nothing but fantasies.”
“Not that I’m complaining, but I’m curious, what made you change your mind about that.”
“Pure and simple jealousy.”
She looked genuinely surprised. “What could you have possibly been jealous about?”
“Jay.” He tried to keep the sneer from his tone when he said the man’s name but had a feeling he’d failed.
“You’re kidding?” She laughed it off but soon her smile faded when she realized that, indeed, he wasn’t joking.
“I know that up until now our relationship has been an act and because of that I felt there were limitations to what I could do or say in regard to you—us. Seeing Jay’s hands on you… I didn’t fucking like it.”
“That was nothing,” she interrupted.
“I still didn’t fucking like it. I discovered I wanted you all for myself.Reallyall for myself.” Possessiveness, when it came to women, was a new feeling for him, but the emotion filled him to the brink in that moment, same as when she’d told him she was a virgin. Her revelation hadn’t been a turn off, as it would have with anyone else, it had only made him want her that much more.
“I’ve waited a long time to find someone who makes me feel the way I do when I’m with you. I surrendered to you for a reason. You have nothing to be jealous about.”
He picked up a lock of her hair that lay sprawled over his chest and rubbed it between his fingers, enjoying the silky texture. “I don’t think now that the switch has been flipped I can turn it off.” He was giving her fair warning in case she wanted to run. Not that it was fucking likely he’d let her get very far.
She gave him a sly smile. “So, is this the point where you turn all caveman on me?”
There was a hint of teasing in her tone, but he took her seriously and shrugged a shoulder. “Probably. I’m not sure. I’ve never felt this way before.”
“You’ve never been in a relationship before?” She sounded surprised.
“Never.” He didn’t elaborate, shame filling him for the first time while thinking about past conquests. He knew, from the many internet photos of him with other women, that she most likely had an idea about his past, but he wasn’t going to willingly spell it out for her. They’d meant nothing but he didn’t want to take the chance she wouldn’t understand that.
He wasn’t risking anything when it came to her.
“And is that what we’re in now?”
He hated the uncertainty he heard in her tone and planned on banishing it forever. With a hand, he cupped the side of her face, brushing his thumb over her cheek. “Yeah, baby, if you’ll have me. As you’ve learned, I can be a bit of an idiot sometimes.”
Her lips curved into a sweet smile. “A bit?”
He chuckled, “Okay, a lot.”
She yawned and he tucked her head back into the crook of his neck and kissed the top of her head. “Thank you,” he whispered.
“For what?” she mumbled sleepily.
