She wasn’t sure how long they danced for, with one song bleeding into another, but long enough for her to work up a sweat and get winded.
Taking Tiffany by the hand to gain her attention, Anna yelled, “I’m going to grab some water. You want some?”
“Sure. I’m going to finish this song. Meet you back at the table?”
Anna nodded then weaved through the crowd to the bar, and seeing an open spot, squeezed in.
“Can I buy you a drink?”
The question came from the guy standing next to her. He was tall, good looking, and dressed to impress in dark jeans and a navy, linen button-up shirt with the sleeves neatly rolled. “No, thank you. I’m just getting some water.”
That didn’t deter him. “The dance floor’s really kickin tonight.”
Not wanting to be rude but not wanting to encourage him either, Anna just smiled and bobbed her head in agreement, then turned her attention to flagging down one of the many bartenders.
“I haven’t seen you around before.”
Anna internally groaned. Getting hit on was the one thing she dreaded about clubbing. Even if Vas hadn’t been in the picture, being picked-up would not have been on the night’s agenda. She wondered if she ignored him, he’d go away.
“You here with anyone?”
Guess not.
She turned back to the guy, giving him a tight smile. “Friends.”
“You wanna dance?”
Thankfully, the bartender chose that moment to sidle over to her.
“Two waters please.” She pulled out her credit card while the bartender grabbed the bottles from under the counter. She also took that moment to peek at her phone and saw she missed a text from Vas thirty minutes ago.
Shoot.
Taking her credit card back from the bartender, she snatched up the two bottles of water. “Sorry, but I think I’m done dancing. Have a good night.” She scurried off before the guy could offer her another invitation.
Once she reached their table, she handed a bottle of water to Tiffany as she slid into the booth. “Sorry, I should’ve stopped by to see if you wanted something,” Anna said to Luke, feeling bad that she’d totally forgotten about him.
“Don’t worry about it.” He held up his half-empty glass. “Got a soda while you guys were dancing.”
Anna uncapped her bottle and took a long swig before pulling her phone back out to read Vas’s text.
What are you doing in Hollywood?
How did he know that? Her head quickly flew up and she scanned the room even though she knew it was impossible for him to be there.
“Is something wrong?” she heard Tiffany ask.
“No. At least I don’t think so.” she answered before texting Vas back.
How do you know where I am?
Considering her delay in answering him, she expected it to be a while before she got a response so was surprised when he answered right away.
I tracked your location on my phone.
Anna stared, dumbfounded, at Vas’s text. She was aware people could track their families and friends, she just never thought about Vas setting something like that up on her phone before giving it to her.
“Are you sure everything’s all right? You have a funny look on your face.”
