She didn’t hesitate, not even for a second. And fuck if that didn’t feel good.

Chapter 24

“What would you say if I asked you on a road trip?” Anna had woken that morning with a brilliant if somewhat crazy idea spinning through her head, and Tiffany was the perfect partner in crime.

Setting the coffee carafe back on the heating element, Tiffany turned, giving Anna her full attention. “The first thing I’d say ishell yeah. The second, where are we going?”

Anna chuckled at her speedy response then filled her in. “Vas is in Vegas, and seeing as it’s so close, I’d thought I’d drive out there to surprise him, but I don’t want to go alone.”

“Not to mention your car probably wouldn’t make it.” She made an eek face.

“That too,” Anna laughed in total agreement. “So what do you think? We both have tomorrow off. We can leave in the morning and be back the next day before our shift.”

“I’ll talk to Luke, but I’m sure he can get the day off.” She grabbed Anna’s hand and gave it a vigorous shake. “This is so exciting. Do you know where Vas is staying?”

“He hasn’t exactly said, but when he’s texted me the past two nights, I pulled up my tracker and it showed him at the Venetian.”

Tiffany’s nose wrinkled. “That might be a little out of my price range.”

Anna shrugged. “So we’ll book someplace cheaper, and I’ll pay for half the room and give it to you and Luke. I’ll stay with Vas.”

“Deal.” Tiffany’s smile grew. “Tomorrow can’t get here soon enough.”

What are your plans for tomorrow?

Anna was glad Vas couldn’t see the big-ass grin on her face when she typed out her reply to his question.Gail asked me to cover for her so I’ll be working all day. Yes, that was a lie, and no, she wasn’t sorry.

You know I hate it when you work overtime.

I know, but with you out of town, I’ve got nothing better to do.

Last time. I promise. When I get home you can ask for some time off and I’ll take you away someplace special.

Oh, yeah? Like where?

Anywhere you want.

Her smile turned mischievous as she typed,Even Vegas?

If that’s where you want to go, but anywhere in the world, literally, is yours for the asking. Paris, Rome, Greece… New York :).

She chuckled.I can’t believe you remembered that.

I remember everything you tell me.

Well, as nice as all those places sound, I don’t think I can getthatmuch time off work.

Then quit.

Her smile froze.You’re not serious?

Her phone rang and she quickly answered it. “Hey.”

“I’m dead serious,” Vas said in lieu of greeting.

“Vas, I can’t quit my job.”
