Pulling into the underground parking lot, she stopped short when she saw a black BMW in what she’d come to consider her spot.
“Well, shit.” She scanned the lot looking for an empty space that wasn’t designated to someone else. Inching forward, she finally found one at the end of a long row and saw Blake in her rearview mirror as she pulled in.
Getting out of the car and slamming the door, she turned with a huff and accused, “Someone stole my spot.”
Blake didn’t say a word, just closed the distance between them, dangling a set of keys in the air.
“What are those?”
“The keys to the car that stole your spot.”
“Oh, good. You found the owner.” She opened her door, ready to get back into the car. “You can pull it in here as soon as I back out.”
Blake started laughing.
“What?” She slammed the door closed again and placed her hands on her hips.
“Yeah, I found the owner.” He chuckled again. “And I’m looking at her.”
“What?!”
He took the last step to her and wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her until she was flush with his chest. His eyes were shining, and he still had a smile when he said, “You’re so damn cute.”
“Wait.” She put a hand on his chest and pushed back a little. “Stop trying to distract me with sweetness.”
“Then I’ll distract you with kisses.”
His lips were on hers before she could protest, and then, let’s face it, after that she didn’t want to protest. Her hands, no longer pushing against his chest, wrapped around to his back and her heart swelled when he didn’t flinch. She never failed to notice when that miracle happened and marvel how he’d come such a long way in such a short time.
He really was incredible.
His lips moved from hers, skimmed along her jaw, stopping at her ear where he murmured, “You wanna go for a test drive?”
A soft chuckle escaped as she whispered along his jaw, “Is that a euphemism for sex?”
Disengaging, he stood up straight, tipped his head back and laughed. When his eyes found hers again they still sparked with laughter when he said, “It is now.”
“I got distracted and never thanked you for my new car.”
They were lying on the couch half-naked. Gwen’s skirt was wrapped around her waist like an innertube, and she still had on one shoe. Blake still had on his pants but was sans shirt and shoes. They’d never made it to the bedroom. Hell, they were lucky they made it to the couch.
After slamming her into the wall by the elevator, he then proceeded to slam into her. Over and over and over again. On the kitchen counter, on the dining room table—where she’d lost her shoe—then finally on the couch.
His hand trailed up the inside of her leg, stopping high up on her inner thigh. “You’re welcome. I’m just happy you didn’t argue with me about it. After all, you did get mad when I bought your groceries.”
“At first I was too shocked to argue and then I got distracted.” He chuckled, squeezing the inside of her thigh. “And now that it’s had time to settle, I know you did it so you wouldn’t worry about me driving around in an old, unreliable car. And how can I begrudge you that?”
“Thank you.” His head descended towards hers, but before he made it, his phone started ringing. “Fucking lousy timing.”
“Um, no. Somewhere around the dining room table would’ve been lousy timing.”
He smirked as he brought his phone around, but the playfulness left his features as soon as he saw the screen. He hit a button and brought it to his ear. “Yeah?”
Silence for almost a full minute, but Gwen could hear a female voice talking over the line even if she couldn’t make out the words.
“I’ll be there as soon as I can.” He clicked off the phone and looked back at her. “I have to go.”
She cupped his jaw, and he closed his eyes, kissing her palm. “Your sister?”
