Nervousness fluttered in my belly, but I was ready. More than ready to share my happiness with my family. My crazy family who was out there having fun… I actually didn’t hear anything.
I jerked my attention away from Nathaniel and yelped to see a crowd of people standing in the front door. Yup, my crazy family. All of them with smiles on their faces.
CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO – Nathaniel
I woke Avery on Christmas morning with my head between her legs. Her sweet pussy was an addiction, and I could not get enough. She mewled and moaned, writhing under me as I brought her to orgasm twice. Only then did I crawl on top and thrust deep inside of her.
This was all I wanted for Christmas. My greedy Alpha self wanted to keep her in bed all day, but her family would expect us at her parents’ house. Thankfully we were only a hundred feet or so away.
Once I wiped us clean, I cuddled with her in the loft bed. Avery kissed along my jaw and grinned. “I don’t know what I did this year, but to get a present like that, I must be on Santa’s extra nice list.”
“Extra naughty, you mean.” I laughed and tickled her side. Her giggles were like magic, making my heart swell even further with love for her.
“I could show you extra naughty,” she said with a wiggle of her brows and then settled back down with a contented sigh. “But we need to get showered and dressed and up to the house. If you thought last night was chaotic, today is going to be even worse.”
“More chaotic than the White Elephant game?” I’d never heard of such a thing. Silly mystery gifts were passed around and traded or stolen within the rules of the game. One of Noelle’s twins tackled his brother for a present he thought was a record by their favorite band, but it turned out to be a calendar of dogs pooping.
“That was tame compared to other years. My family was behaving for you.” Avery kissed me and grinned. “More of my aunts, uncles, and cousins will be arriving at various times today. We’ll have brunch first, and then it will be time to open presents. It will be like a pack of Tasmanian devils descended upon us. A movie or two might be watched, munchies will be available all afternoon, and several of us will help in the kitchen. But the kitchen only has so much room, so it will be crazy in there.”
“Look at you glowing. You love this insanity.” Fuck, she was beautiful. I never wanted her to stop smiling. Well, unless it was the orgasmic bliss that I’d brought her on her face.
“I do. I really do.” She kissed me, longer and more tenderly. “I especially love that you’ll be part of it this year and for all the years ahead of us.”
The craziness was still a lot to me, but as long as I was by Avery’s side, I didn’t care. I’d been an idiot before, but I would never lose her again. If I had to wear a tacky Christmas hat and play weird holiday games every day of the year, I’d do it for her. I was never letting her go.
“Move in with me.” The words tumbled fast out of my mouth. Her eyes went wide and she stiffened a little. “I don’t want to rush things, to rush you. But I don’t want to spend another night without you.”
Avery softened again, and twined her fingers with mine. “I don’t either.” She pursed her lips as she thought for a moment. “I don’t feel the need for the nest anymore, and I don’t want to live in your apartment. I’m sorry. It doesn’t feel like a home. But here,” she looked around at her tiny house. “We could live here.”
Immediately I wanted to push back. I needed to provide for her. I was the Alpha. It was my job to take care of her, to give her a home and make a future for us. I swallowed my initial growl. My most important job as an Alpha was to make sure my Omega was happy. “If that’s what you want, we can live here. Though,” I ran my fingers teasingly along her thigh. “I’d prefer more space to be able to have my way with you. I can’t toss you over my shoulder and take you to bed in here.”
She laughed. “I’m sure we’ll find some new ways for you to be a caveman. But this place was originally meant to be temporary. I was going to live here until I finished my internship, and then my parents could use it as a guesthouse. I may consider working for Donner Designs after my internship is done, and if I do—”
“Youmayconsider?” I gathered her to me and nipped at her shoulder. She wasmine. She wasn’t going anywhere.
“I don’t know if you’ve heard, but my boss can be pretty grumpy.”
That earned her another playful bite. “You can say hard ass bastard.”
“Well, you do have a very nice ass.” Avery patted my rear. I rolled her onto her back and pinned her under me. She wiggled, moaning as her eyes dilated. “And if you keeps doing this, we’re never going to make it to brunch.”
With a kiss, I reluctantly lifted off of her and propped myself up on my elbow. “I want you to keep working for me. I will move heaven and earth to keep you at Donner Designs.”
“That does sweeten the deal.” She smiled and her nose cutely crinkled. “As I was saying, this place is temporary. I did plan on moving out eventually. I want to build my own house. I wantusto buildourhouse together.”
“Done.” That was perfect.Shewas perfect. I couldn’t imagine doing it any other way. A house designed by ourselves and built for our future together. I kissed her to seal the deal. “Though, I’m keeping my apartment until we have our house built. I need some place to store my stuff. This tiny home barely has room for me as it is.”
“There’s always room for you.” Avery kissed me as she pushed off the blankets. The coldness of the morning rushed over us. “Let’s shower and dress. I’m starving and I can’t wait to see everyone open their gifts.”
We got ready quickly and hurried along the icy path up to her parents’ house. Brunch was absolutely delicious. They did it buffet style, and everyone ate where they wanted. More of Avery’s family arrived, and there was happy chatter all around. Last night, I got asked a thousand questions. Every family member had to talk to me themselves. But this morning, it was as if I had been around for years. I could get used to this. The warmth, the love, the excellent food.
When it was time to open presents, we all moved into the living room where their twelve foot tree sparkled by the big bay windows. Paper and tissue were everywhere. I’d never believed Christmases like this actually existed, but here we were.
“Nate! It’s time to open yours.” Noelle carried over a huge gift wrapped in shiny emerald paper. “This is from the whole family. From this one and the one at Donner Designs.”
I raised my brows and glanced at Avery. She smiled mysteriously, squirming in the seat beside me with her excitement.
“Thank you. I didn’t expect anything. I didn’t bring—”
