The next few hours go by in a blur. The police arrive, taking my uncle away. I find out that Uncle Wolfe has been watching the house. It lines up to when Clara started having nightmares, too. Alessandro and Brooks leave with the police to ensure hemakes it to the station alive. They’re going to get their answers one way or another.

I glance at Dimitri, who is on his phone.

Or maybe Alastor won’t make it to the station. Maybe something will happen after they get answers and that will be that.

I should feel something, right? The man is my father. And yet, all I feel is anger.

Dimitri ends the call and pulls me close. “What a wedding night.”

I snort before I can stop myself.

“Something funny,minha vida?”

“Just thinking about the time I asked if the Brotherhood was dangerous. I guess I have my answer.”

Dimitri’s lips twitch. “I guess you do.”

“But I’m not worried.”

“And why is that?”

“Because I’m married to the Primal God.” I move closer to him, kissing him. “And I know he’ll do whatever it takes to make sure his family is safe.”

Dimitri is about to reply when Clara yells out, “They’re kissing again, Diego!”

I turn, finding her peeking around the doorframe. Diego’s laughter fills the air from his room, making us laugh, too.

“Fuck, I love you, wife.”

“I love you, too, husband.”

He wiggles his eyebrows. “Let’s get these kids to bed and then get a start on our wedding night.”

I know there are things that are still unresolved within the Brotherhood, but, for now, we’re safe.

“Let’s.”

TWO MONTHS LATER

I hold on to Lilith’s hand as the ultrasound tech moves the probe. We’re officially at twenty-two weeks and out of the woods, so to speak.

The last two months have been a whirlwind of surprises.

João proposed to Eve, and she accepted.

Lilith graduated with her degree after finishing via online schooling.

The twins are thriving in kindergarten.

Isadora is walking.

Raquel is crawling all over the place.

I look at my wife’s stomach.
