I take her and say, “There’s my littlexuxuzinho. Nanny W missed you.”
Isadora snuggles against my chest and twists a lock of my hair around her finger. It makes me miss Raquel so much that I can’t breathe for a moment.
I say to Mrs. Carter, “I hope they did okay.”
“They were angels.”
Clara tugs on my hand and says, “Nanny W, guess what?”
“What?”
“Mrs. Carter said we can stay again next weekend!”
Mrs. Carter nods. “I’d love to have all three back, if they’re free.”
Dimitri says, “That would be lovely. Thank you.” He turns to the twins. “Are you ready to go home? Nanny W has a surprise for you.”
Clara yells, “Let’s go home.”
I follow the twins, and get everyone buckled in. Dimitri is waiting to open my door for me. When he rounds the car and climbs in, I can’t help but smile at him.
Clara asks, “Papai, why are you driving Nanny W’s car?”
Dimitri answers, “So we can all ride together.”
“Like one big family,” Clara says.
I know if I were to look back at her, I’d find the mischievous smile on her face. I snort, looking out my window so I don’t encourage her.
When we get to the house, I tell the twins to go to their room to see if they can figure out what their surprise is. They take off running, leaving Dimitri, Isadora, and me.
Isadora is close to falling asleep, so I say, “Let me put her down for a nap.”
He follows me into her room, closing the door behind us. I put her in her crib as Dimitri comes behind me, wrapping his arms around me.
Isadora blinks up at us and says, “Papai.Momma.”
She has a sleepy smile on her face as she drifts off to sleep.
I spin, wrapping my arms around Dimitri’s neck, pulling him in for a kiss.
When we pull apart, I say, “Is it weird that I’m honored that she’s calling me that?”
“Not any stranger than me saying it makes me hard as fuck.” He presses his erection into my stomach to prove his point. “Because I can’t help but picture your stomach swollen with my child.”
I groan. “You’re playing dirty. You know the twins are waiting for me.”
He kisses me. “I am playing dirty, but you like it. Now, go see if they’ve found your surprise and meet me in my office when you’re free.”
The heated look in his eyes leaves no question to his meaning.
In the twins’ room, Clara runs over to me with the micro duck that was next to the book in her hand.
“It’s a duck!” She practically screams the last word. “Like in the book!”
“It is. Did you find them all?”
“How many are there?”
