Bay’s fingers yank on the locks of hair in her grasp and force my head back, breaking our kiss immediately.
“What’s wrong?” she whispers, abandoning my dick and coming up to wrap both of her arms around my waist. “You’re overthinking again, aren’t you?”
I don’t want to admit it.
I don’t even desire to think about itallthe time.
But it’s there.
It’s here.
We all bust our asses so that if the Forsaken Crew lands in shambles and we can’t get South Shore’s backing, that we’ll have something else to fall back on while we figure out our next move.
It’s not ideal, but we’re not total idiots.
And, shit, can she really blame me? Because she won’t fully open up either, too scared of something we’re going to do to her.
It’s a merry-go-round of bullshit.
So, when does it stop?
Brushing away a piece of hair from her blues, I stare down at her and give her one firm nod. It’s the last and only time I’m going to acknowledge it. Any more and she’ll have me eating out of her palm like she does Reeve, and that, too, frightens me.
I’ve never seen him take a liking to someone like this before.
I’ve never witnessed how devoted he is to show her that he’s serious about keeping her safe.
Then there’s the fact that we both want her. How the fuck is that going to work?
“I told Reeve…” Her glossed-over eyes glimmer when she continues with, “That I’d take care of him. I’d do it for you, too.”
“Me?”
“Yes.” It’s one word. One strong and sound word that attempts to push back all the fears that surround us.
Yes.
Well, fuck. What else is there? She fucks us over, I will literally assassinate everything she loves and owns. I will be her hell, reaping havoc on everything she’s ever wanted.
She just gave me her word.
Theword.
Everything else will just have to take its course, won’t it?
“Then I guess this is my cue to take care of you, huh, Wildfire?”
She bobs her head before I lean over and lift her up by her ass and carry her over to the long chaise. I gracelessly drop her to the edge, snapping my fingers for everyone to get the fuck out because my impatience is now taking over everything else.
Lifting my shirt over my head, I gaze down at her, sitting up by her elbows as she watches me undress for her.
Well…and Reeve and Cairo.
“That body is a sin, Wildes,” she claims, shamelessly examining my abs and the low dip of my sweats.
“And I plan on you sinning on it all night, Wildfire.”
Her lips curl as she begins undoing the button of her jeans, and I shake my head. “No. Reeve is going to get you naked.”
