Piper
“You have my fucking word, baby. Tell me everything you desire in this life, and let me show you what I’d do to give it to you. Use me however you want, Piper,” Blade answers. My heart drops to my stomach at the sincerity in Blade’s voice. Something else lingers in his tone, and I fear for the lives of those who wronged us.
“How far would you go?” I ask him softly, seductively. Blade looks up at me with a smirk, and it’s then that I notice the feral glint floating in his irises.
“For you? All the way, baby. Just say the words, and I’ll handle it however you see fit,” Blade grins. I smile at the notion. It’s wrong in every way that it could be. Legality aside, the act of seeking justice by killing the people that ruined our lives would taint our mortalsouls. We’d be condemned to hell just for thinking it, but would it really be so different from the time Blade and I spent apart? I’d come close to death multiple times in my life, but never more than the year following Blade’s incident. I’d tried more times than once to meet him in the afterlife, and now, I’m thankful I was never very successful. Blade would’ve torn the world apart if I had died, and I regret too much that I didn’t do the same for him. Am I a terrible person for taking it at face value when a nurse told me that the love of my life was dead? No, but I was stupid to not fact check. Not a single peep about his alleged death had been uttered, and I was foolish enough to not question why.
“Will you make them suffer?” I ask innocently, running my hand down Blade’s arm, tracing the tattoos that line his skin.
“Hell would be gentler to them than I ever could be, Piper. I want to watch them burn. I don’t care if it wasn’t intentional. They messed with the balance of us, and I’m leveling the playing field. Sometimes, mistakes are fatal,” Blade says roughly, staring through me like he’s watching the last six years flash through his head.
“Will you let me play, too?” I question, forcing Blade’s focus to shift back to me again. He smiles wildly, and I return the expression. Calloused hands squeeze my hips, and soft lips find mine.
“You’re first pick every time,” Blade grins against my lips. I sigh contently against his mouth, closing my eyes and basking in the feeling of what it’s like to be loved by Blade.
It’s passion and fury. Love and lust. It’s debilitating to be loved by him, but not because he’s possessive. Because living without Blade’s love is like drowning. I could barely keep my head above water most days, and I was thrashing under the weight of grief. I’m willing to do anything to make this right between us. I can help Blade with all of this. I’ve never played this game, but I’m willing to learn as long as he’s my teacher.
“How would you do it?” I ask him gently, unsure of how he’d react. I’m asking my boyfriend how he’d kill someone. Is he still my boyfriend? If he’s willing to commit homicides and felonies as needed, I can call him my boyfriend, right? Either way, he’s mine. Blade belongs to me the same way I belong to him.
“Do you have a preferred method?” Blade teases, nipping at my neck. I giggle, shaking my head slightly. A distinct buzz filters through me, and I think this might be heaven.
“I’ve never thought about it, but I’m open to suggestions,” I shrug playfully. I think about it for a minute before deciding that I have no idea how to realistically pull this off. My face must show my defeat because Blade is quick to pull me from my thoughts.
“Where’d you go just now?” he asks quietly. I hum.
“Do you think we could actually do it? Kill people just for the sake of it?” I murmur, zoning out slightly. Blade tugs my chin to lookathim instead ofthroughhim.
“Bailing on me again, baby?” Blade asks, and I’m immediately riddled with guilt again. I know, in reality, that our situation is more complex than that. Not that either of us even know what exactly is going on. Blade has always had a way of being too much in other people’s business.
“Don’t fucking play with me like that, Blade,” I snap, pushing his head away from where it was nuzzled in my shoulder. With dark eyes, Blade lets out a sound that has me shuddering, It’s a mix between a hiss and a low, guttural growl. He sounds demonic.
“You like to be played with, Piper, and it’s my favorite fucking pastime,” Blade hisses, gripping my throat in his warm hands. I choke when he tightens his grip. It’s harder than he had done it earlier. Rougher, like he’s desperate. For a moment, genuine fear hits me, and it’s then that I realize just how serious Blade is about getting revenge.
“Are you not the slightest bit curious as to why this happened to us, Piper? Are there any thoughts inside that pretty little head of yours, or are you still too fucked from earlier?” Condescension leaks from Blade’s tongue, but something about the way he speaks has a wave of arousal dripping down my thighs again. Goddamn it. I hear him scoff as I drop my head back, groaning when Blade flexes his thigh that’s nestled between my own. He adjusts, and my sensitive clit rubs against him.
“Answer me,” Blade instructs, tightening the hand he has wrapped around my throat.
“Of course, Iwanna know what the fuck happened,” I grit as I roll my hips, grinding against the muscle of Blade’s thigh. If he keeps this up, I’ll be his first victim.
“Then let me handle it,” Blade tells me quietly. I fear I may get whiplash with the way this night is going. I nod obediently as I cover his thigh in my release.
“Good girl,”Blade groans in my ear.
Chapter Nine
Piper
“How do you expect to plan multiple homicides in one night?” I ask Blade sleepily when he slips me off him. I settle beside him with a racing mind. There are too many things we don’t know. Too many faces with no names in this situation. Am I expected to go on a killing spree with this man on the off chance that we might get rid of some of the people that lied to us? How are we supposed to track down the person that shot Blade if neither of us saw his face? I wouldn’t know who that nurse was if she looked me dead in the face.
“I’ve already started looking,” Blade tells me casually. I snap my head up to look at him.
“You what?” I ask, not sure I heard him right.
“It’s been six years. You think I wasn’t looking for the person who tried to kill me?” Blade almostlaughs.
“Did you miss the part where I thought they succeeded, or do you wanna take a trip down memory lane?” I ask him sarcastically. Blade rolls his eyes. Rude.
“Don’t be a brat, please,” Blade says desperately. I sigh, not willing to argue again.
