Food… It’s not the worst idea.
Chapter 28
Bri
My first thought that filters through is how cold I am. The second is how good it smells.
My stomach growls.
Opening my eyes, I realize I’m naked on the porch.
What the fuck?
Covering my lady bits, I stand up and lose my footing immediately.
Ouch.
My legs are killing me.
In fact, every part of me hurts.
Going in for my second try, I place my foot carefully before putting my weight on it and find that I can focus enough to make it to the door.
Which is locked.
Son of a bitch!
I knock hard, nearly SWAT team pounding by the time Cain opens it, allowing the room's heat to float out.
Dear lord, I need inside.
“How could you leave me out here?!?” I shout, pushing him to the side as I tenderly move to the couch with the largest blanket. Once I’m burrito’d , I turn back glaring at him waiting for an answer.
“Oh, I tried to get you to come inside. I asked nicely. I was reasonable. I used command. Your wolf found it very entertaining to defy anything I ask of her,” he says, frustration showing on his expression.
“Oh,” I say, not understanding why she wouldn’t listen.
He’s not our boss.
He’s our Mate.
True, but he doesn’t control us.
My eyes grow wide at her attitude.
Well, shit.
“Sorry,” I say realizing what he’s been dealing with.
“It’s fine. Dinner is ready if you want some,” he says, nodding to the pot on the stove.
Yes!
My stomach growls in answer before my words can catch up and concern etches itself on Cain’s face.
“Yes, please,” I say, watching him walk to the stove and scoop what smells like heaven into a bowl.
He sprinkles cheese and onions on top before grabbing a spoon and walking it over to me.
