“Well, that might spark more controversy and more articles.” Viktor frowns. “People might notice journalists that write about you turn up without their eyes.”

“Do you think I give a fuck?” I might take his tongue, if he doesn’t change his tune.

Andrei grins.

“What the fuck are you smiling about?”

Andrei sobers up and shakes his head. “Nothing, cousin. Nothing at all.”

“We can get these pricks fired,” Viktor offers.

My mind races with all of the brutal things I want to do to these social media critics. The bullshit they’ve spewed.

Most of all, she’s seen it. And she thinks it’s true. When I look at her, I don’t see anything other than radiating beauty that is her. How can anyone be blind to that?

She has curves.

Fucking gorgeous curves.

I love her fucking body. Every inch, every curve, every pound. If I could spend the entirety of every day kissing, licking, and fucking her I would.

“Fired isn’t enough.” I grab my phone again. “I’m going to your office. I’ll be a while.” I head to the door.

“What are you going to do?” Andrei calls.

“I’m going to buy that fucking tabloid.” The door almost comes loose from the hinges when I yank it open.

And when I’m done buying all of those fucking assholes, I’m going to make sure Cora understands every fucking word was a lie.

“He’s just an ass sometimes. He can’t help it.” Marlena pours me another glass of wine. It’s my fourth.

Or maybe fifth?

It doesn’t matter. The big ass margarita she gave me while we destroyed a platter of nachos has already done me in.

“Can’t help what?” I ask, sipping the peach wine. It’s sweet. Just like Marlena and Izzy. They’ve been trying to make me forget that the man who tricked me into this year-long marriage doesn’t love me.

It’s fine.

I told them it’s fine.

I already knew he didn’t.

But hearing him say it.

And like that.

I take another sip.

“He was in love once.” Izzy glances over her shoulder. We’re in the kitchen, and the swinging door is closed.

“Who was?” Marlena asks. I think the second margarita did her in, too.

“Sergei.” Izzy laughs. “He was in love, a long time ago. He was actually engaged. Was supposed to marry this woman, but she ran away.”

“She ran away?” I cover my mouth when a small burp escapes, which makes me giggle.

“Yeah. Just before the wedding.” Izzy nods and finishes off her glass of wine.
