Devin would punish his wife?
Would Dax do the same to his girlfriend?
Did Dax have a girlfriend?
Her stomach rolled.
“It’s just down here.” Dax pointed. “Just past these trees.”
“I thought you hadn’t been here in a few years.”
“I remember this plot of land. Devin’s been planning this expansion for a while.”
She nodded, still not done obsessing over that word. Dax had said it so easily. He didn’t stutter or sound put off by the idea.
Punish.
What grabbed her attention harder was that the idea had sent a spark through her, straight to her core. She pressed her thighs together.
This might be a very long week.
Chapter Seven
Dax sat on the edgeof the bed rubbing his eyes. The sun had barely begun to rise, and even though he’d only gotten to bed a few short hours earlier, his body was used to rising with it. The cabin was quiet. Erika had been exhausted when he showed her to her bedroom the night before.
She’d fought sleep the entire drive up, and even after he’d given her duffel bag to her so she could get to bed, he had heard her shuffling around for a while.
Devin had put her on edge. Dax had seen her eyes widen when they’d gotten to the car. She’d had the same look when she’d gotten her first glimpse of him at the club. But what had left him lying in bed with a grin was the look of curiosity mixed with a drop of arousal when he mentioned punishment. She had flicked her gaze back up to Kara’s bedroom when he’d said the word. Her cheeks had flushed sweet pink, and she’d licked her lips—though he doubted she knew she’d done any of those telling actions.
“Dax?” Erika’s voice carried through the door just before a soft knock.
“Yeah?” he called and stood up from the bed. She walked in just as he got to his feet.
“Oh, shit. Sorry.” She covered her eyes with her hand.
He laughed. “I have pants on, it’s fine.”
